A friend got a predator at a good deal but it came with the 12.4 and he prefers the 12.9. It just so happens I’ve always thought that the thinner shaft would fit my game. Spent a day playing with it and yup. It does. Just feels more comfortable in my hand and feels easier to move the ball with so I’m making the trade. I believe when I got my revo all anyone had was the 12.9 so that’s what I got.
Anyone else make the switch? And if you did did you think it was easier the cue ball around ?

I never played very long with a 12.9 but I went from a 12.4 to an 11.8 Revo just recently, after using the OB Carbon 12.3 for a bit. I like the way the 11.8 feels a bit better. Did not notice any changes in the action of the ball but I like the taper feel. When I was first looking at the Revos I though the 11.8 was too thin, the 12.4 was just right. Then I used the OB Carbon for a bit and liked the taper and width of it. Had a chance to get an 11.8 Revo to try out and started to like it more and more, ended up getting one.

If I was to guess without knowing the real numbers, I would say that the 12.4 Revo is 75% of the sales. Or at least what people finally end up using even if they first bought the others.

12.4 is a nice size for me. I actually prefer 12-12.25, did a lot playing around with sizes on wood shafts. Started at 13mm, then tried 12.75, then 12.5, 12.25, 12, and finally 11.8. Found 11.8 a little skinny for my taste, 12.5 a little thick. 12 and 12.25 were my favorites with 12mm becoming my main wood playing shaft for a long time.

When I went Revo I knew I'd go 12.4 as it was the closest I could get without going too small. I like it a lot, feels really good. If I could have it a tiny bit skinnier I would but I'm fine with it at 12.4.

I don't have a Revo, but over the years I have tried different shaft diameters, and find that smaller diameter just "feels right", to me. 13mm is simply too big. So, I got my Pechauer Rogue in 12.4mm (to go on a Pechauer cue), and I like it. It fits my game, because I am comfortable with it....not because there is anything magical about it.

BTW, Minnesota Fats used a 13.5mm shaft.

You might want to measure that Revo with a caliper. My 12.4 measures 12.49.

I was always a 12.5 shooter and was going to settle on the 12.4. But both of my 12.4's measure around 12.49. A nice pleasant surprise.

I was figuring that since it's an engineered product that the measurements should be precise. They are totally wrong

Interesting, if my digital calipers weren't broken I'd check that. Reminds me I should get some new digital calipers....

I have preferred a 12.4 shaft for years. I did buy an Exceed ExPro shaft which I believe is 12.5. Love the Exceed shaft btw.

12.9 for me. Just snagged one, and LOVE how it feels and plays. Very little adjustment needed.

Matter of fact...if somebody has a like-new 12.9mm Revo with a piloted 5/16x14 insert...hit me up!

I have all three, 12.9, 12.4 and 11.8 Revos.
Out of those the 12.4 is my favorite.

Feels and plays most like wood of the three, in my opinion.
Like the taper and the way it goes through the bridge hand much more than the 11.8 for sure but also the 11.9.
For some reason it also feels more efficient in terms of how hard I have to hit to get the same draw or follow.
However I'm sure that's all psychological since I simply like the way it feels and hits the most.

I was just thinking about this recently and I can't think of any top pro who use anything under 12mm.
Most are 12.5 or 12.4.
I'm sure I'm wrong about this but I can't think of a pro at the moment who uses an 11.8 shaft.
Go through the Predator website and you'll see what I mean.
Also, a lot of the Asian players seem to use 13mm or something close to it.

Cuetec has realized that the demand for 12.75mm carbon fiber shafts are low. I am quite sure they now offer them at 11.8 & 12.5 mm.

In context…..
12.49mm = .4917
12.40mm = .4881
A difference of .0036”
This is equivalent to the thickness of 1 sheet of notebook paper….

Your bridge hand never touches the area you are measuring?
I don't think it really matters where bridge hand contacts the shaft, you will still feel that same difference up the shaft a bit. If you didn't feel any difference, then why get a smaller diameter shaft? It may not be right at the tip but it may be up the shaft a bit, but there is still a difference between shafts.

Spent a few more hours with the 12 9mm...and I'm sold. Just bought another, to go with my Scruggs.

I have a Synergy at 12.5, and plan to do some comparisons, soon. Not that it matters much. I suck at pool, regardless of the gear used. I miss all easy shots, equally.

And? I can certainly feel and see the difference. I keep my cues at 19.5 oz. You give me one with a couple oz either way and I can tell tell the difference. Lol

i think there is a BIG difference between .0036 and "a couple oz either way"
just sayin
