Johnnyt said:Does anyone know if Efren Reyes was in the Tampa-St. Pete, Florida area in 1981? I played A guy straight pool and then some three-cushion at Tom?s Billiards in Pinellas Park A few people, including Tom the owner told me that it was Efren a few days later. I played him one afternoon for about 3 or four hours. That night and the next day they said he broke everyone in the place playing golf on the Snooker Table and then three-cushion. There was a Snooker champ from Canada there that was hustling in the area. Efren? busted him in Snooker and got his car too. Johnnyt
The earliest photo's we have of him at the Flamingo were from the mid 80's.
Tom's park billiards was a great pool room, I spent allot of time playing there in the 70's and 80's. Tom sold out to Charlie around 1988 and Charlie turned it into the "One Pocket Club" many a late night poker game went on
there.
Charlie then packed up everything and moved to a smaller place above the Speed shop on 34st (US19) in St.Pete, and the next year he packed it up and moved to the Carolina's.
I still have picture post cards from Tom's.
As far as Efren, he was a regular at the Flamingo, but this was around 85 and 86. I don't ever recall playing a guy around here named Efren.
It could have been "Boy" , "Tran" or "Rodell" they are all local hustlers that
have similar features, Boy looks the most like Efren and Tran could destroy anyone on a 3C, Rodell is a all around strong player.
I will see what I can find out.
I will ask around when I see some of the guys from the old days.
