Rhino MUST

I'm not taking the bait and trying "yet another" budget CF shaft. Predator fanboy for life, ask Garczar;) Buy cheap, buy twice.
they live for people like you. keep swillin that koolaid bro just don't drown. i've heard nothing but good about the Raven, i'd try one in a heartbeat. NO WAY i'd give 500,errrrr 550 now, to Predator to help them pay for their ads/sponsorship deals. A lot of their price is tied up in that stuff, you do know that right? The Revo is good 300 shaft that sells for 550 because of their advert/sponsorship/tourn. promotion overhead. I'm out.

i watched a video of a Raven Pro shaft and it looks to be very low-squirt. the Rhino i had was just a tad more but very close. if buying again i'm going with Raven. like that they're in the states.
Bulletproof Carbon Fiber shafts can be had for $199.00 with a code for 20% off.
👍

There is nothing as low squirt as Predator's offerings. From 1996 or whenever they started until now. I've tried about every other brand that the locals had since I got my first 314-1 in the 90's, until today, with all the various CF options. If low squirt is your primary focus, Predator's line simply can't be beat. Yes, you'll pay a premium, but they are the best in that category.

I have tried to get away from their higher prices, and in the end, I ended up with higher squirt shafts that aimed differently sitting in my closet collecting dust.

Then we could all argue about how they tested them, ha ha.
No truer words have been spoken. Just my $.02 here but i think a lot of people would be surprised at just how little difference there is between shafts. I've tried about ten cf shafts and all played good and deflected less than any plain wood shaft by miles. Sure there's gonna be feel/sound differences but as far as playing with them its not gonna be big.

the differences are tiny is my point. i hit balls with a 12.9Revo, a 12.5 Cynergy and a 12.7 Rhino back to back to back. To be honest i don't recall which was lowest but just doing the shoot at end rail test they all hit about the same spot. none of them jumped out as 'wow that's really low'. I could play and use spin the same with all three, no major compensation of any kind. there wasn't anything about the Revo that would make me spend almost 600bux on one, not even close.

Maybe I could ask, what do you mean by completely sealed?
Most likely talking about visible seam marks. Filament wound tubes have very faint lines to start with and once they're sanded/finished they are easily made invisible. Even on good flag-wrapped shafts you often have to look really close to see them. Has nothing to do with how it plays, just a cosmetic deal. And again: neither of the Rhino shafts is even remotely 'hybrid conical'.

When say finished, do you mean they apply something to the shaft or just the process of sanding/buffing etc?

sounds like its time for the 'AZBilliardBigassCarbonShaftTest'. ;) Just get 'em all in 12.4/.5 and use one butt and let 'em duke it out. That would be a BUNCH of shafts to test.
Interesting idea.

Likely finished with a 3000/5000/8000, etc grit sandpaper. It's possible a thin coating of something is applied prior to final sand/buff.

AFAIK most(all?) cf shafts in their natural black color are just sanded as you describe. I know the wood-grain finishes on Whyte's have a protective sealer. I have heard that some black shafts have some sort of super-slik coatings but i don't know if that is factual or who uses them.

The original McDermott Defy had a coating on it, if I remember correctly. If memory serves, they had a great deal of issue/complaint with the coating. McDermott corrected the "wrap/coating" issue when they released the 2nd generation Defy shaft. I'm wondering if the coating would be ceramic or Teflon in nature. I'm sure it's proprietary, and they are certainly not going to tell a crumb bum like me.

Those were horrible. I test hit one and put it down after like 5 shots, it reminded me of the old Cuetec glass-coated cues. the new one's are like other cf shafts. i don't know if its coated or just sanded.

I don’t think there is any coating on the majority of the modern CF shafts. That’s why they all feel so good and similar, event the budget ones. The ones that did try a coating were garbage.

I believe that all CF shafts are made this way, you can actually see the seam along the shafts under a strong light.
This method is actually better for cue shafts as the tube is smoother.
It is also costs more to produce as it is less automated and requires professional labor.
Nope. Some are filament wound.
