Thanks PT! I bought my first one for $85, too, but mine only had one shaft. The owner said it was a "Ridge". Later on, I saw people selling a couple as Gandys, but I thought they were Rich cues. I'm assuming Abe and not Saul?I had an identical cue when I was a kid...it was a Rich..
..two shafts, cost me $85

I'm pretty sure it was the New York Rich...Saul
..I bought it in Albuquerque at a billiard supply...Abe's cues didn't get around so far back then.
FYI, for future reference...... every Gandy I've seen has aluminum shaft inserts.

Thanks, Doc! I can always use more info about cues, and you know your stuff about Gandys! I picked up a matched pair of these Rich cues on Ebay this last weekend for a very reasonable price. I remember the one I had as a kid hit pretty solidly. I figured they would be good cues to loan friends that don't have their own cues or newbies that make me nervous using my collectible cues.Same here, the ones I have seen and the ones I pwn have aluminum inserts..
Further, the exact model Gandy that this cue gets confused with is the HC-145.
Same design, no points, rings, dots in butts sleeve.
This cue is certainly a Rich, most likely out of New York.
This is a Gandy HC-145: http://www.classiccues.com/cuemakers/cues_under_1000.htm
And this is my HC-145: http://forums.azbilliards.com/picture.php?albumid=2207&pictureid=17404

I have several old Rich cue catalogs but have yet to find this model.

Hi all,
This cue isn't the cheap import model (that was probably a replica of this cue) that I saw a few of as a kid. I'm pretty sure it was either a Gandy or a Rich. Can anyone clear up this mystery for me?
Thanks!
Hunter
These were referred to as Rich "Starfire", if I remember right. Came in both ebony and rosewood.
