Rico Diks and Dave Matlock to fill two open spots in the World Open!

The International Pool Tour announces that Rico Diks and Dave Matlock have accepted the IPTs invitation to fill two open spots left by Hall of Fame legends Buddy Hall and Jim Rempe, who both dropped out of the World Open citing personal reasons. Diks, and Matlock, based on a number of criteria including their third place finishes in the World Open qualifiers as well as their high finishes in the North American Open ( click here for results). Both Diks and Matlock were thrilled to be invited to compete in the World Open.

The official player groupings will be released at midnight (CST), Thursday August 31, 2006.

This is great news. Both of these players deserve it. If they do well, maybe they can share a little with Hall & Rempe who afforded them this opportunity. By the way, Diks name does not have a "c"! :o

What about Vimos Foldes,is he in it?It was to my understanding that he finished 3rd three times in various qualifiers.

Yeah, Unfortunately only one third place in qualifiers for the World open.
Rodolfo Luat also misses out for the world open, as well as another few players who will certainly next year bump current bottom IPT-players from their thrones...
I'd rather see a Vilmos Foldes play than that irritable blabbermouth Sigel fella' for instance...

Yes, I knew that. Just copied and pasted. I will fix it! Oops, can only fix the one in the body, but not the title. :(

Well ...

I am real happy for both, especially David. I understand he is working to get back in 80's early 90's form, and if so, he is a real tough competitor. He had a great finish in the NAO, and I am sure both of them will be bringing their A game to the WO.

Rofl ....

Linda, I didn't see this thread or I wouldn't have started the other one.
I woke up in a fog and saw the news and got so excited that I didnn't even see this. I'm sorry.

I saw Rodolfo Luat's name in GROUP 18. Was he asked to replace somebody?

His name is in Ronnie O'Sullivan's spot so I would guess that is who he replaced.

I notice that Michael Schmidt is in George San Souci's spot in Group 10 as well. Hopefully everything will work out as well as possible for Ginky and his wife and he will be able to enjoy a career on the IPT after the important things in life are taken care of.
