Ridgeback Rails For Valley's?

Have any of the rooms or bars in your area replaced their Valley rails with Ridgeback rails? Johnnyt

My local club had its three Valley tables converted to Ridgeback rails a little over a year ago. The rails bolted up without issue and took no getting used to.

These tables see very heavy use every day. The new rails have been a pleasure to play on. Now you can make any bank shot or multi rail position shot confident that you won't hear that dreaded thud and see the balls die after contact with a cushion, or take a funny bounce.

Ridgeback cushions are IMHO, a no brainer upgrade.

I agree. I have two sets for my Valley. One gives it tight 4 1/2" corner pockets and the other set gives it all six pockets 4". Johnnyt

Emerald Billiards in Louisiana put Ridgebacks on all 24 Valley Cougar tables. They play very good.

Here is a little tidbit I recently learned, a good Pool buddy of mine has been setting up tables, and Valley bartables only have a 3/4" slate on them, not 1" like you would expect.

I know they have 3/4 slate on them. My Valley is 26 years old and the slate is fine. You have to watch the 8' Valley's though...slate tends to sag. Johnnyt

What do they cost for a set? Maybe I'll donate a set to the moose lodge. If they like it maybe they'll spend the cash to upgrade the other 3

Be careful how small you make the pockets with Ridgebacks. I have a few sets and I had one set made to 4" pockets (all six) and it's brutal on humid days. I've played on a lot of old Diamonds that are supose to be harder than the newer Diamonds and my Valley plays as tough or tougher even with the shallow shelf. Johnnyt
