Righty / Lefty

I have been blessed with being quite ambidextrous , I'm right handed and left eye dominant , I play pool right handed , shoot long guns left and pistols with both , chop wood only left handed etc ... I am able enough to break and run a rack ( now and then ) left handed and practice daily left handed . I noticed something I found interesting while practicing the other day was this . After finishing a rack playing right handed I collect balls from the pockets walking clockwise , and counter clockwise when shooting pool left handed . Had always done this but didn't know until I stopped to think about it

I am left-handed and -eye dominant and can play decently right-handed. I tend to circle counter-clockwise, and when I took notice of it, I believe that I observed right-handed players circling clockwise. It's certainly been over a decade since I thought about it. Not sure if I would change directions playing off-hand, as I only occasionally do it not, and normally only for shots that I can't reach left-handed.

When you chop wood left-handed, are you saying that your left hand starts closest to the axe head?

Yep just like batting left handed , ( never golfed , but I would def play lefty ) , thought it was kinda cool that I even noticed I walked around the table in different directions .Fishing - I am completely adept at casting a baitcaster reel right or left handed ( and pitch and flip right or left handed too ) so I can actually make more casts throughout the day than most people

I do things the way i was taught. I play guitar left handed. Pool right handed and play golf left handed. Sometimes i boils down to ease. My computer is right handed, But years ago i started out left handed. I had to share a computer with a guy at work years ago that was right handed

I was playing with my friend and during the game I made an awkward left handed shot, pocketed the ball and made shape on the next ball, he said "Nice shot, why don't we play the next game for lunch and we only use our left handed", I agreed, luckily I won and while having lunch, I confessed that I was actually left handed :) Worst part of this was that we have been playing for years !!!

Pool left hand, pistol right hand, Rifle left hand, eating right hand, writing Right hand, the things I do with my left hand is better than what I do with my right hand.

running out from the spot, which plot favors your lefty/righty instincts?

I play pool right handed and walk counter clockwise around the table. I write and bat left handed, throw right handed, golf RH but never tried LH clubs, I also had to unlearn being cross handed while golfing righty. I ax lefty. One thing that is odd is that I do a lot of TIG welding, it is very precise so one would think that I would hold the torch with my left hand but I don't, I use my right hand to hold and move the torch.

I’m a Lefty in Pool from the start, the same for writing and eating. However, in the other major Sports, I’m right-handed, and always have been-Baseball, Basketball, Football, , Hockey, Golf, Shooting Guns, all right handed. My Mom was an Identical Twin, and out of Four Boys, Two of us were Left-Handed, and Two were Right-Handed.

I left it out in my first post, although I usually mention it in "handedness" conversations...I am left-handed, but I believe that I'm right-footed. I bat right-handed (and can left, but with less power), and I golf right. Never tried golfing lefty, but just thinking about it, I think it would feel wrong.

Oh, and if I trotted up to kick a ball--soccer, football, w/e--I would use my right foot.

I heard that Mike Sigel is actually Right-handed, but his early Instructor was a Lefty, so Mike played Pool as a Lefty. I hope someone can verify this, one way or another.

Slightly right eye dominant, do all kinds of things with both hands. Natural lefty, but taught most things right handed, so right hand is more powerful and precise, but I reach for new things still with my left usually, which I think is a learned processing stage for handing them over to the more powerful right side. Everything takes a bit of practice, and I like to maintain a level of skill with both hands in most things (writing, drawing, throwing, kicking), simply because it is very good for brain health.
I'd bet money on either hand :)

I take the shortest route! Must be a righty thing.

I think most lefties have a high level of ambidextrous.
I'm guessing it is because almost everything is made for right handed people so left handed people have to learn to do a lot of things right handed.

I'm ambidextrous, but not for everything. I tend to do certain things right handed and certain things left. I play pool left, but chalk with my right hand. I didn't realize for years that most right handed players also chalk with their right. I bat, golf and throw right handed. It seems that the things that would've required specialized equipment I typically do right handed. I bowl right or left equally well. With baseball because most gloves are right handed, I learned to throw right handed and batted right handed too.

I eat, draw, play pool and write left handed. Almost everything else I do right handed.

I am not amphibious but was taught to catch in little league by a coach that was. He pitched with either hand at a semi pro level. Well in the military leagues. As a Marine in ww2 He was blown off of two ships in the Pacific. The football game in MASH is accurate in regards the interbase competition. He had a different strength with each hand both were good.
When I started tinkering with off handed pool. (Lefty for me) I was many years into playing Right. The Left hand at first was so uncoordinated that it was an even game with the women and children. It took a year to get Lefty on a par with the Right. It had taken uncounted years to develop the Right. 🤷‍♂️
My experience is that the right handed play is analytical while Lefty is creative and plays by feel rather than logical analysis.
When it comes to a do or die shot my hand decision is based on the comfort of the stance and bridge at the table. If all is equal my decision generally is whichever hand holds the cue from the last shot. 🤷‍♂️
Shooting with the other hand is a big advantage on a small set of awkward shots. Awkward for one hand can be natural for the other.
Practice playing Left vs Right. Start with a spot if necessary. Just Do It. The teaching of the other hand starts with the basics. My late start Lefty led my Lefty to a better foundation since I had no bad habits to break. I spent years breaking bad habits right handed previously.

Not gonna ask. 😂
