Does anyone have a crosstitch ring like this one that they could send me?

Some one broke the shaft off just at the neck of the ring. I put the ring inside the chuck and I was trying not to put to much pressure on the ring as I thought it might crush once I drill out the woos and inset.

Well just the opposite happen. I didnt put enough pressure on it and it began to spin inside the chuck and put some small groves on it. I may attempt to sand it out but I donk know what its going to look like. Any Ideas????

I was going to, but, forgott to stop by Lowe's on the way home! I got in a hurry I guess! Never thought of the collet idea, thanks

I have been wanting to make stitchrings, now I actually have a reason. If I cant fix or find one that's what I will do.
 
Anyone know what type of material the ring is made of. The little squares are not white but a pearl-ly looking think. Mabe similar to what diamond sites on a pool table is made of.

Do you have any useful information or not. "Meucci's famous plastic rings" doesn't tell me Jack!

Hack! I doubt it. The fact that I got in a hurry and screwed up makes me a hack! Not knowing the collet idea on something this small certainly doesn't! I think a better word would be "inexperience" instead of name calling!

Also I am repairing and making a new regular maple shaft with mucci ringwork, ferrule and tip for free. But then again all my work if free as I am a beginner eventhough my end product may be every bit as good as your, who knows! Thanks

Meucci deco-rings, usually, have always gave me trouble making. They use plastic, often molded, for so many parts and those materials are not available to repair people. That plastic is called crushed velvet or pearlized rod but I have never found it in flat form, only 1.375 rod. Trying to make a tube of deco-rings from pieces cut out of a rod is a killer. The stuff is both brittle and melts at a low temperature making it not really suitable as the base material and filling the black area's. If anyone knows of a source for this type of material in flat sheets of different thickness, I would appreciate it also. If you want to attempt using the rod then both Atlas and Prathers sell it, I believe.

There was a guy out at Valley Forge this year that was selling that stuff. I for the life of me can't remember his name or business name. If any one else was there he was set up downstairs the end of the second row in facing the tournament table. He had some unique stuff faux ivory and other plastic stuff. Glow in the dark slabs. Damn it I am not old enough to forget stuff like this. I will look at home to see if I can find a card.

That sounds like it may be Masecraft to me. Not sure though.

One of My customers had the same cue i think, well I know atleast it was a moochie with the same ringwork. I think It belonged to one of the guys I'm building one for now, and seems like he sold the moochie for under 100 bucks. I don't remember who had that cue for sure right now, but I know one of My customers had one like it, cause I had worked on it several times for them. The first thing I thought was moochie when I saw the picture here due to that.

I won't rag you about using no collet, even though it's Cuework 101.:D Just to say it's a good idea to always use one. About the only time I don't use one or something to protect the cue, is everyone once in a while during a build, but that's before i know I'm gonna do another turn on the cue before finishing.

I have never tried to make those rings, so don't know what materials would match or where to get them. My best guess would be be the same as others, and to try macecraft, just to see if they have anything close.

Thanks Already ordered some. Now, is the ring made of double black linen rod.? Whats the difference between black linen and black delrin?? one is linen based and therefore stronger???

After sanding all groves i have to make up .040. Is this too much for ca finnish?

Linen Has a harder feel, delrin is softer and won't hold a finish. Mochie is probably gonna be some kind of plastic. You could maybe use linen, but possible there may be some change in feel. I don't know if black abs would be a good replacement or not.

I have made a few shafts for this Meucci cue, the 333 series. I used atlas double black and got a 1x3 peice of pearl substitute from Atlas or Prathers I really don't remember but the collars turned out perfect. The shaft in the picture is a collar that I made using this material. The collar by the shaft has a little bit bigger windows that I used for another project but the completed shaft was using the same material.

Thats it! got any more rings? I did order supplys yesterday, I will try making one. Any secrets in cutting the ring slots in black linen as opposed to natral wood? Will the linen heat up and melt any?
