I had the chance to play pool with Paul at Amsterdam Billiards back in the early 1990's. He was a good player and a good fella.I think I read in "Playing off the Rail" that he was an excellent pool player. That video confirmed it. He's probably playing with Ray Liotta and the other wise guys in heaven. RIP...
It's a near certainty Paul wouldn't let you pick up the check. Correct?I went to dinner with Paul S and Mike Sigel in LA in 2015 or 16 at a popular Italian spot called Ago. He and Mike were good friends for many years, I can’t recall how Mike met him. Paul was a very nice guy and we had a 2 hour dinner, his daughter has a horse rescue farm by Bakersfield Ca he was telling us about.
RIP Paul![]()
Beansie (Paul Herman) is still alive but otherwise cool story. Thank you!I went to dinner with Paul S and Mike Segal in la in 2015 or 16 at a popular Italian spot called Ago. He and Mike were good friends for many years, I can’t recall how Mike met him. Paul was a very nice guy and we had a 2 hour dinner, his daughter has a horse rescue farm by Bakersfield Ca he was telling us about.
Then on the way out of the restaurant we ran into the guy who was in COM at the bar-like in the end of the movie when Vince was negotiating a game with the guy, he was also Beanzy in Sopranos. (He recently passed away as well) Was a trip as he was leaning on the bar alone just like in COM, Mike recognized him. It was a million to 1 chance meeting. Like we walked onto the set of the movie.
What a night!

Don't put too much onions in the sauce, sounds just like the kitchens and restaurants I spent time in. He brought a credibility to the role that no one else could havePaulie was a friend of ours……..Can’t you still see him
slicing garlic with a razor blade cooking in his jail cell?
He had a look, sorta like Joe Torre has. Street tough guys
& both of them widely acclaimed Italian food aficionados.
RIP paison….I hope the guys from the neighborhood greet
you at the pearly gates along with all of God’s other angels.
He pulled a move actually. There was 5 of us and when the check came it was around $600 he said “grab the check and I’ll cook tmr night at my place, we’ll have a great dinner”. I knew right then it was game over. I paid. It's a near certainty Paul wouldn't let you pick up the check. Correct?

I always thought the real value of having lunch/dinner with a celebrity was being able to name-drop later on about who you were with. That's why the non-celebrities are expected to pick up the check. One thing I’ve learned living in LA for ever, every time I’ve had dinner/lunch/what ever with a celeb-they NEVER pay or even offer to. That’s a lock. Paul was no different.
I didn’t really care.I always thought the real value of having lunch/dinner with a celebrity was being able to name-drop later on about who you were with. That's why the non-celebrities are expected to pick up the check.
You forgot that Paulie didn't have to move for anybody.
RIP Paul SorvinoI don’t watch many movies.
I need to see one of his movies. He was a nice guy, great vibes. He spoke mostly about his daughter and the horse rescue in Bakersfield. He liked Mike a lot and Mikes stories-they met somewhere, they talked about that. I just listened mostly. It was a fun night, I was lucky to be there. I didn’t have much to add to the conversation.RIP Paul Sorvino
