I have always thought AZB is the place to get info - so here is a equest that got forwarded to me. Can anyone help???

I was wondering if anyone at the BCA knew or had any information on a man by the name of Bob (Robert?) Freshley. I think that is the correct spelling of his name. He was quite active in billiards in the 60's and 70's and I believe participated in directing tournaments and the writing of the rules. He taught be to play 3-cushion and 14 and 1. He passed away, I believe, some years ago. I hope I have remembered his name correctly. I met him at The University of Iowa where he worked for quite some time. Thanks. William Kochneff

Robert Froeshle (that's close but maybe not the exact spelling) was the President of the BCA back in the 70's and into the 80's. He had a lot to do with making the annual trade show the success it was. I knew him fairly well. He was about my size (not too big :wink:) and a very nice man, who would take time to communicate with anyone who approached him. He had a gregarious nature and a ready smile. He did pass away a good ten years ago.

I'm sure they can provide more information about him at the BCA offices. Steer William that way.
 
Robert (Bob) was a very good friend on mine. Bob was the heart & soul of the BCA staff. Bob was the BCA in those lean years.

I worked with Bob & his staff for about 10-12 years on the Rules Committee and other various BCA enterprises they were involved in. I knew Bob to be an outstanding gentleman with a very likeable personality. He was down to business when he had to be and loved our pool game like no one else.

I think Gary Benson could give more insight on Bob's career with the BCA. It was Bob who hired Gary and the rest became history.

NOTE: Gary Benson was the BCA's National Tournament Director for about 30 years.
