My favourite player Roberto Gomez won the first qualifier for the World 8-ball Championship.

Congratulations Roberto!

I would like to put 25$ on Roberto Gomez for winning the Championship. You can get the rest of the field, but you have to put up 100 $.

Paypal only, and only 1 bet.

I like the way this guy plays.I think given the chance again in the worlds, I don't think he would let the pressure get to him like last year. He's a great shot, what I've seen anyway.Go Superman Go.

1st Qualifier ---> Roberto "Superman" Gomez

2nd Qualifier ---> Jeff "The Bull" De Luna

3rd Qualifier ---> Israel "Amay" Rota

4th Qualifier ---> Joven "The Shark" Bustamante

What does these names tells you berry?

They are all Filipinos and we still have Alex Pagulayan, Marlon Manalo waiting to qualify to the main draw. How many qualifiers do we have left and who are the more prominent players hoping to go through?

Are there any Taiwanese players attempting to qualify?

The Philippines is still well represented in the Qualifiers, notwithstanding the 4 names that was
mentioned earlier who earned their ticket to the big dance. I still see names of Ramil "Bebeng
Bacolod" Gallego, Marvelous Marlon Manalo, Gandy "Yang-Yang" Valle, Alex "The Lion" Pagulayan,
Warren "Warrior" Kiamco, Lee Vann Corteza and Richard Mariano duking it out...

Not a single name. I saw 3 Singaporeans and 2 Thailanders on the list though...

There are 8 qualifiers, right? So there are 4 more to go.

how come efren and django are sitting this one out? efren used to own this tournament!

come to think of it, they've both been scarce lately. anyone know why?

the guinness 9ball tour i can understand since they represent a competing brand (san miguel) but what about the other tournaments lately?

the only news we've had so far concerning the dynamic duo is that they'll be holding pool lessons courtesy of dragon promotions......

Alex? He isn't in Fujairah! He just lost to Ronnie again last night at One-Side. I wasn't there though but I was at Bugsy's when our guest who came for chit-chat found out about the match and wanted to up the bet to 1.5M (US$36k). Too bad, no can do as the score was already 29-26 (race to 30) in favor of Ronnie.

Efren, the inaugural champion of the World 8-Ball Championship, wasn't given the WPA Wildcard slot. Same situation with Joven who finish 3rd last year. The defending champion Ronnie Alcano, last year's finalist Dennis Orcullo and last year's 4th placer Niels Feijen all got WPA Wildcard slots but not Efren and Joven. Their 2 slots were given to Antonio Gabica and Elvis Calasang for winning their, BSCP/RAYA/PBDF/Star, supposedly APBU alloted slots Qualifier. Unfortunately, the BSCP leadership failed to meet the APBU submission deadline so those 2 slots were given to other Asian players. WPA Ian A. had to bail out Yen by having Gabica and Calasang fill 2 WPA Wildcard Slots. This is why BMPAP Vice-President and former WPA World 8-Ball Champion Efren Reyes and BMPAP member and last years 3rd placer need to go through qualifiers. Quite an insult and injustice to the Inaugural Champion and last year's 3rd placer.
