Robertson/Higgins Semi

I have to agree with Steve Davis and John Parrot when they ranked the Grand Prix semi as one of the best matches ever played. I haven't been a snooker fan for very long but have watched many taped matches. This one will be one for the record books IMO.

It really was a fantastic game. Ronnie against Higgins was fabulous too. The first session of the final was excellent too. After Ding got down on himself, the thunder from downunder just ran away with it.
I was very surprised by the Hendry vs. Williams match. Goes to show you how much confidence makes a difference to the game.

But overall it was one of the best tournaments I've watched in a long time. Too bad there were many empty seats in the audience.

Yes an absolutely top drawer match. It had everything, including a nailbiting finish right up there with teh best. I must say I was a bit sad that Higgins lost. If I had to recommend a player for a beginner to model themselves on it would probably be him. But I think it's good for the game that the younger pros are reasserting themselves again.

But my vote for best of all probably goes to Higgins final victory of O'Sullivan a couple of years ago (same competition?) It was centuries every frame all the way. Incredible standard. Probably the best session of snooker ever played.
