I think this was posted not to long ago so I apologize for reposting, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Are there any pool rooms in Rochester, MN? I may be visiting on Wednesday and I would like to know if there is anywhere to play.

Thank you,
Sarah

There aren't any decent ones in Rochester. They have one but it is pretty run down. You'd have to go up to the twin cities for the closest real pool hall. It's a little over an hour drive though. May I recommend Shooters in Burnsville.

I am originally from Rochester. There is a pool hall there but I woiuldn't call it much. The felt hasn't been replaced in ages. It is tore up on most tables and nothing is kept up. Not even worth the time to stop in there.

37th Street Billiards (507-282-0033) comes to mind, but I do not know if they are still open, they might have changed ownership or something. Check mnbilliards.com, on ther main page is a 'pool hall locator'. Enter Rochester, MN and you will come up with several establishments with tables, (mostly bars).

I hope your visit to my state is for good reasons, and your doing OK.

Maybe JMB read this and will come up with that 'action' he was trying to get you in...ha-ha

Vagabond was thinkin of Greg Fix. He used to come to the Twin Cities for tournys, but haven't seen him in quite some time, years even.

Good Luck,
Mark

Sarah,

Wizards is the only poolhall left in town. On 7th St NW, 9 blocks north of St Mary's Hospital. I haven't been in for a while.

37th St. Billiards closed a couple of years ago.

The Sandtrap has 9 Valleys, but no big tables.

Mark,
Greg is still in town. He plays the Beighley Cup charity tournament every year. You can challenge him to game of 9-ball to raise money.

Thank you everyone. I am only going to be there for a couple of days (hopefully). My grandfather has to go to Mayo Clinic for a check up. I was going to tag along to see the pool scene, or if there is one, in that area of Minnesota.

Thank you all for your input.

Sarah

Sarah,
The pool scene here is 99% bar tables. You will miss the big tournament by a week. There will over 160 tables set up next weekend for our local operator's season ending singles and team tournament. Over 600 singles players and over 400 teams.

Tony.

Tony,

What is the tournament? Can only amatuers play? Is it open to people that are not from Minnesota? Last time my family went up there, they got stuck for 2 months. I am really hoping that doesn't happen again. I will let you know if I am making the trip. Thank you again for the info.

Take care,
Sarah

Best of luck with your Grandfather, Sarah. Wish you could make our tournament. Betsumn, says he is going to play in the ring game.

It is our (VNEA) league tournament, so you have to have played in our (amateur) league. It is held at the Olmsted County fairgrounds in the three Graham Arena buildings, about 1 mile south of downtown Rochester. It starts Thursday 21st in the morning, and runs through Sunday.

It would be great to have a pro show up, I'm sure you would have plenty of challengers -- we have some pretty good players in the area.

I work at the Mayo Clinic, so if you have any questions I can PM you my work email.

If you happen to get stuck in town, I would be interested in playing. I won't be back until mid to late May though. If you happen to be around, we will have to get together and play some.

I am in town for 3 days of cruel & unusual punishment at Mayo.

Where is the best place to play ???
