Ron Thomas Cases...

Anyone have any info on these cases? Or better yet some pictures of the interior of his 2X4 models? I am going to be in the market for a new cue case very soon and am going to go for a custom case most likely. I like Whitten cases but I really like the way Fellini style of cases close in such secure fashion and want to see more of the Thomas cases before making the plunge into a $500 or so case. Does Thomas have latches with locks that can be added to the case to go along with the "friction fit top"? I like the friction fit top and all but having a secure latch would be nice on certain occasions.

Anyone have one of the 2X4 cases of his or have seen them at VF or whatnot and can compare them to the other big custom case makers in terms of protection and quality and the durability of the case 10+ years down the road?

I saw them there, that is what made me curious about the interior on the 2X4. They have pics of the interior on the 1X2 cases, but not the 2X4. I did see that snap that snaps to the lid though as the securing feature that I had missed before by not looking at the blown up pics. That is not bad but the silver latch on the Fellinni cases I always thought looked pretty slick.

Anyone know if Thomas will do work in Suede? Does he usually go to Valley Forge?

I'll try and get you a pic of the interior of my 2x4 and email it to you. Mine also has a latch on it but no real way of putting a lock on it. I don't remember seeing any of Ron's cases in suede but I bet he would make one out of anything for you. By the way he in the past has had great prices at VF and sells out by the final day. Thats when I plan on buying another one from him.

Ron's cases are as good as anyones! He fully lines his cases with a very heavy felt material. He makes three different designs for his tops, one with a latch, one with a snap usually on the side and a friction fit lid that really fits tight and seals virtually airtight. His workmanship is second to none and he's a great guy. I'm sure that he would do one in suede with no problem. You won't be disappointed in his cases.

The last time that I talked to Ron he said he was working on a website, but I have not seen anything as of yet.

Ron's cases are top notch and you can't ask for a better person to deal with. They're similar in design as the George cases but contain no rivets. Rivets have killed many a George case depending on where it broke. Ron's cases are made with small screws so if anything breaks or wears it can be easily replaced/repaired. He's an old school kinda guy which is why the website is going slow. Ron would much rather talk to you on the phone than deal with email.

The classic look goes well with some of the cues I build too. I just got in an elephant hide 1X2 with some extra hide to do a wrap so everything will match.
