Ron Thomas Pool Cue Cases owners

I was wondering if anyone has had owned or owned a Ron Thomas 2 x 4 Cue Case. They appear to be the closest thing being made today to the Old George/Brunswick Cases.

How well do the Ron Thomas cases protect your cues, and also I would like to know if the detachable top poses a problem of being lost?

well, i have a 1x2 thomas with a friction fit lid and a 2x4 thomas with a snap lid. in my opinion the friction fit is fine on a 1x2 but the 2x4 needs the snap. i did once mix up lids and put a top from a 2x4 it's george case on the ron thomas and it was a perfect fit. when i removed the lid i even got that little suction noise. and the thomas lid did the exact same thing on the george case. the 2x4 ron thomas is one of my favorite cases and protects the cue as well as any case i've ever owned.

I have a Ron Thomas 1x2 vinyl (he no longer makes vinyl cases) and like it a lot. I drooled over his fine leather cases at the last two Valley Forge Expos and have no doubt that they're among the best.

i have 2 1x2 that came with my showman cues ... both are super and the cues fit perfectly - no movement within the case whatsoever !

one misconception about cases is that when you put a cue in a case it should be in there really snug and unable to move around. that is not always a good thing. when anything pliable is held tight it can take the form of what its up against and for cues that's not good. you want the cue to have a little room and be able to move naturally. i don't mean floppin' around in there just no held too snug. all my cues, most stored away, are in tube type cases just for that reason. they seem to have that "fit" at the sleeve or joint collars and the rest is not pressured against anything. that's not to say that all non tube cases are any worse just watch for ones that hold cues too tightly all through the cue. another tip is don't store your case lying down for the same reasons. it can take tha shape of what it's up against. always leave it standing on end. for the record i do believe that Ron's cases among others don't have this too snug problem.

Very good post here. And I agree, Ron Thomas cases are among the best on the market today. I also like Whitten and Silver Fox and JUSTIS of course.

I just recieved my 2x4 custom thomas which I will be posting pics of tomorrow. The case is perfect in every way. My cues do fit pretty tight however.

i agree i like my whitten 2x4 with 2 pouches on it and a handle-no strap alot and I use it more that the thomas, but my Ron Thomas is a 1x2 that is real black elephant skin and it dosent have a pouch but thats cool. i use both depending on where i'm going or what i'm doing. i like to switch cases for fun nsometimes, both are the best cases made, my whitten is real alligator-black.
