one misconception about cases is that when you put a cue in a case it should be in there really snug and unable to move around. that is not always a good thing. when anything pliable is held tight it can take the form of what its up against and for cues that's not good. you want the cue to have a little room and be able to move naturally. i don't mean floppin' around in there just no held too snug. all my cues, most stored away, are in tube type cases just for that reason. they seem to have that "fit" at the sleeve or joint collars and the rest is not pressured against anything. that's not to say that all non tube cases are any worse just watch for ones that hold cues too tightly all through the cue. another tip is don't store your case lying down for the same reasons. it can take tha shape of what it's up against. always leave it standing on end. for the record i do believe that Ron's cases among others don't have this too snug problem.
