A Quezon City judge has ordered cue artist Ronnie Alcano to stay at least 1,000 meters away from – and to not communicate – with his daughter, a minor who has accused him of sexual abuse, the world pool champion's lawyer said Wednesday.
Alcano’s legal counsel, Victor Rodriguez, disclosed the judge's order after the hearing on the petition for temporary/permanent protection order (TPO/PPO) filed by Alcano’s estranged wife, Girlie, and his daughter before Judge Lourdes Giron of Quezon City Regional Trial Court branch 102.
Rodriguez noted that the Quezon City judge also issued a 30-day TPO against his client last March 27. He added the cue artist was barred from any form of communication with his daughter.
Alcano, who won the World Pool 8-ball tournament held in Manila last November, has denied the accusation and filed the counter-charge of perjury against his daughter and her mother.
“Ronnie only received the copy of the TPO last April 4, a day before the long vacation so we have no opportunity to file our opposition. So, in today’s hearing, the court has given us five days from now to submit our opposition so that the protection order would not made into a permanent one," Rodriguez said.
The petitioner sought a TPO/PPO after suing Alcano for rape before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The complainant alleged that Alcano sexualy abused her on Nov. 25, 2006 at the cue artist's Quezon City residence.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, said his client is willing to be subjected to undergo a psychological examination to prove that there is nothing wrong with Alcano's state of mind.
“We have no opposition on the manifestation of the camp of the petitioner to subject Alcano to psychological examination to show good faith, to show that we don’t hide anything. But we will also ask that the petitioner should also undergo psychological examination for establishment of her real character," Rodriguez said. -GMANews.TV
