Ronnie Alcano vs Alex Paguylayan

If they both played each other on their best day in a 9 ball race to 100, who do you think would win?

It depends... If there's no mechanical bridge available in the room where they play, I'd have go with Ronnie.:D Otherwise, it's a tough call..

I agree with everybody else it'd be a toss up. That would be one sweet match. I wonder why these 2 have'nt tangled yet. Or at least it hasnt been reported yet.

If the game was rotation I would ge with Ronnie.

If the game were rotation, I would also go with Ronnie. I don't remember hearing that Alex ever played or even practiced rotation.

I lean towards Ronnie in the 9 ball, but just barely.

hmmm i wouldnt be too sure about that. alex's filipino too, so he must have at some point in his young life played quite a bit of rotation as well.

does alex play more 1p than ronnie?

experience-wise, i'd go with alex, but damn, alcano's tough too. both are strong players mentally, and skills-wise almost the same. I'd say it's a toss-up!

Ronnie and Alex played race to 5 Rotation ghost. For a couple grand at Q-Masters before the US Open. Ronnie won.

Having played them both, IMO, Ronnie is a softer opponent than Alex. Ronnie's big break is his only intimidator. Alex's all around knowledge and execution is tough to fade. Alex breaks pretty damn good as well.

Ive seen both guys play in person quite a bit and even though it would be close, i would have to go with Ronnie.

Ronnie is a badass and the only reason he didnt win the US Open is because he ran into a pool freak by the name of Shane. He played just about flawlessly all week. Even when he lost to shane, i dont think he missed more than two balls in two sets.

Alex plays great and would beat ronnie on any given day. Iguess just like someone already said, it would depend on whos getting the better breaks.

Corey,
Thanks for the on table insight.
Do you know if those two are friends? Of those two, which do the other filipino pros like best?

Ronnie Pagulayan hehe , you know Filipinos go for the current "star" i mean who had the recent successes mostly they sway on it , we have a saying "weather -weather lang yan" , i hope you know what i mean :D

i think you can put a few other phillipinos names in this question along with alex and ronnie(efren,busta,dennis,marlon,jose,luat,etc...) and the answer to who would win? is an absolute coin flip an any given day as they all play almost flawless when they are at their best. i did watch ronnie play chris bartrum at the open this past year and i do not think he missed a ball.( i sat right behind orcollo and he was smiling and laughing with ronnie and some girl the whole match as if he knew he was watching something special.) ill be honest, at that point i didn,t think anyone in the field had a prayer, including shane.
