Ronnie O'Sullivan 1K Centuries - Contest!!!

Here's the list of all entries and the random break that was assigned to them. I'll also add to the OP.

Just 1 century for Ronnie O'S today in his second-round match in Northern Ireland.

And he slowed way down to 14.7 sec. average shot time (from 14.0 yesterday), allowing some slowpoke named Trump to tie him for fastest in Round 2.

I wonder if orion21 is liking his 146. Ronnie is known to do those on purpose.

I knew Ronnie kept a fast pace at table but I had no idea he had a record of 9ish second between shots in one of his maximum centuries.

That's just a little over 5 minutes to run the max. That's mind boggling.

And I thought I needed to slow down from a 3 to 4 ra k of 10 ball. OMG....

Stuff like that reminds me of just how much I suck.

Sorry for the off topic question, but I wonder just how hard it is to run a 100 points from the 1st shot after the break, in Snooker. Is that how you get a Century break? Can the average decent Snooker player get a Century break every now and then? I imagine it is very difficult.

By the way, please add me to the list, if willing. Thanks.

For comparison Steve Davis made 355 and Jimmy White 341 Alex Higgins and Terry Griffiths 86 Ray Reardon 53 , all of those guys were world champions multiple times.
O'Sullivan is just on a different level than everyone else who ever played the game.
The amazing thing is how fast he plays , they can most times barely spot the balls, in time to get out of his way. Stephen Hendry and John Higgins are in the 700s but Hendry retired and Higgins is getting ready to.
Ronnie seems to be getting better every day.
He had 3 in a row the other day. Ridiculously great !
As long as he still enjoys it ,the number is bound to keep going up.
It is 972 right now, lol.

If Hendry could have played on longer he would have broken 1,000 no problem, sadly a combination of breaking his cue and 'the yips' meant he just couldn't play anymore.

O'Sullivan will be the first to 1,000, probably this season (depending on how much he plays in the second half of the season) and according to Cue Tracker has a much higher average of Centuries per game than anyone:

https://cuetracker.net/statistics/centuries/average-per-match/all-time

Of the chasing pack the only 3 that seem likely (well have a chance) to go past 1,000 themselves (and thats if they play on for a long time) are Mark Allen (who is improving rapidly), Judd Trump (hasn't won as much as he should, but when he wins he scores heavily) and Neil Robertson (who is the only player to score 100 centuries in a season).

OK -- today's Ronnie report (regarding the Northern Ireland event):

Round 3 -- A 4-0 win, but zero centuries. And even worse, he slowed down to 16.7 sec. avg. shot speed and was beaten by Thepchaiya Un-Nooh's 15.5 sec.

Round 4 -- A 4-1 win with 1 century. And, again, Mr. T. U-N beat Ronnie on speed, 14.0 sec. to 18.2 sec.

So Ronnie is getting slower every match -- 14.0, 14.7, 16.7, 18.2, whereas Mr. T. U-N has gone 14.8, 16.8, 15.5, 14.0.

[Ronnie's 16-2 record so far in frames is acceptable, but T. U-N is at 16-1.]

4 guys left after Round 4. Maybe we'll have a speed-snooker finals.

Edit -- Nope, those two would meet in the Semifinals if they both win one more match.

Mark Allen is a very weird choice for this. I like him a lot, but no way he'll be able to make 1000 centuries in competition.
I am baffled how did you came up with Mark Allen. In cuetracker (which you shared the link..), it says that MA has played 777 matches and have made 388 centuries.... he turned pro in 2005, so in 13 years he has played 777 matches. If his average stays the same, in 2031, he will have played 1554 matches (that's roughly 300 more than RoS at this moment) and will have made 776 centuries... That means he will have to keep playing for at least 5 years more to make those 200 centuries, so we're looking at the year 2036. He will be 50 years old (8 years older than today's Ronnie).... I just don't see it...

Ronnie gets David Gilbert in the Quarter Finals.

Ronnie is 5-0 all time vs Gilbert, but has only had 3 centuries in those 5 matches.

I have some doubts about this season. Ronnie made some comments WRT when he makes his 1000th. Smirking. And sort of implying he might stall for some time to pick the right event/time for his 1000th. Knowing what he can do with 146/147s I am not sure but I have a hunch he is going to make a show out of that one. Probably missing a bit below 100 just before he thinks he created enough suspense :-)

Thanks a lot BeiberLvr for including me. I like my number (103). But even with anything over a 140 nobody has drawn a much inferior number since it is Ronnie and he might try a 147 for his 1000th and stall as long as he doesn't have a chance. This would not be beyond Ronnie. Let's see what he really does but I am pretty sure he won't take the first opportunity for the 1000th.

Yes, I based that on his form over the last few years (in particular the last couple of seasons)...but I also did not account for his age, in my head he was a lot younger than that!!

So yes I stand corrected he is very unlikely to even get close!

Haha possibly yes!

Ronnie on fire at the moment as he knocks in another ton against Gilbert, couple of sublime positional shots in there as well, he's just unplayable sometimes.

On fire is being generous! By his standards he’s pretty poor, not scoring consistently, missing a few and poor safety.

Still cruising though!

My Ronnie report is a bit late today.

He won his Quarterfinal match 5-2, with one century break. But he was bested by Mr. T. U-N in the speed race, nosed out at 18.9 sec. avg. shot time to Ronnie's 19.0. But Mr. T. U-N lost :(, so we won't have that speed match in the Semifinals. Instead, R. O'S will play some guy named Selby, who sometimes beats 20 sec. AST and sometimes doesn't.

But ... two speedsters could still meet in the finals -- R. O'S and J. Trrruuummmmpppp. We can only hope.

Ronnie is 16-9-1 vs Selby (no idea where the draw came in)

Selby is an ever so slight favorite today 50.46% - 49.54%

The last time they met was in the finals of the 2016 UK Championship. Selby won that match 10-7
