Ronnie O'Sullivan breaking lefty just for kicks I guess

He breaks left handed a lot. He has said in the past that he feels as though he gets more right hand spin (outside english) on the ball when breaking off with his left. The added spin would help him get behind the green better.

True or not I was told applied left vs right naturally varies because of support at the bridge. With the open bridge the thumb better supports RH English playing left handed. A closed bridge would better support left English.

Watch the slo mo vids of the cue in the bridge. Think cue deflection. No I didn't say cue ball deflection.

Is there anyone here, who is not mesmerized by the way O'Sullivan plays the game?..His uncanny accuracy, and pin point position play, (especially on a 6 X 12)..is almost unbelievable! :cool:..Do you realize how hard it is to score a 147 ???..Thats all 15 red balls, with a 7 ball made after each one, (120 points) then all the numbered balls for the other 27 points!..That makes Mosconi's 526 record, shooting any ball on a 4 X 8 with 5" pockets, look like childs play!..Plus, Ronnie has done the 147 many more times than once!..Unreal! :eek:

If the bridge is not within about 6 inches of the cue ball and of a very hard material, it will not affect either squirt or amount of spin. That's what testing and physics tell us. I think Ronnie uses a bridge longer than 6 inches and he does not harden his fingers.

Bob, please explain what you mean by "hardening his fingers" ?..Do you not agree, that Ronnie O. may well be the greatest pool player who ever lived?..And I'm including Buddy, Earl, Efren, Worst and Mosconi in my very biased evaluation! ;)

That was a joke. The flesh of the hand is too soft to allow the hand to affect the tip-ball interaction during the 1-2 milliseconds the tip is on the cue ball. For the same reason, the grip strength is immaterial since no human grip can match the hardness of the tip. If you used a mechanical bridge head as your bridge and used a 3-inch bridge, you could increase the amount of squirt. It's not clear to my why you would want to.

All this physics stuff has no relation to how well Ronnie plays, so I'm not clear why you brought that up.

He and Efren are two of the greatest players to ever pick up a cue. Honestly would probably model after a snooker player like Ronnie rather than a pool player.
 
To me Ronnie is the best snooker player ever he is in different class.

And for pool it got to be Efren and Earl.

Comparing two perhaps Efren is more craftier and Earl was great shot maker. Hard to pick one.
 
Ronnie and efren both look very natural or well practiced opposite handed. They also miss less then anyone who has ever lived. Long live to of the best cueists to ever play!

Efren was as good lefty as Ronnie when he was younger.. Incardona said he saw Efren run 3 racks of 15 ball rotation opposite handed while practicing to match..
 
Ronnie had made 147's with his opposite hand. Absolutely ridiculous talent. I can't ever imagine a time where I'm too good with my right hand that I have to devote months and months using my left hand to keep the game a challenge.

Ronnie O, is no doubt the best pool player who ever lived! However, due to rarely playing 9ball or 8ball, those are not his best games!..If he were to devote any time to learning those games, he would be unbeatable at them too!..But why should he bother?..He has dominated the most lucrative, and financially rewarding game (snooker) for years now! The other games pay peanuts, compared to snooker! :rolleyes:
