I made the trip to Rhode Island yesterday to visit this pool room for a qualifying tournament. I was pleasantly surprised! Lately, every pool room I go to is dirty, loud, and has bad equipment and service. Here are some good things about Snooker's.

- The food was great! I got the Minnesota Fats burger with Sweet Potato fries. There was cheese cooked INTO the burger:eek:.

- The Guiness was ice cold and I didn't have to hunt down my waitress everytime I wanted one. The service was teriffic.

- The room had probably 16 Gold Crowns (If I remember correctly) and they were all in great shape. The balls were cleaned and polished too!!

- I saw multiple sets being played for over 200 per...and I was told there is ALWAYS action like that there!

- The servers were hot!!:D

- The tournament started ON TIME!!!

All in all, I had a great time. I can't wait to go back in two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been to the *new* Snooker's in Providence, but the old one was very cool as well. Regina and Steve Goulding, the owners, know their stuff when it comes to a cool poolroom. Of course, their location is kind of nice as well, smack in the middle of dozens of colleges and universities, providing a place for young folk to socialize.

Thanks for the trip report!

I happen to favor Regina's homemade Italian meatballs myself. :p

Snooker's hosts the annual Ocean State Championship every year.

Here's a great shot of an Ocean State Championship winners circle -- [can't remember what year] -- with Regina and Steve Goulding, the owners. I think y'all can recognize who the players are that came in first, second, and third by the size of their trophies. ;)

Glad you liked it Easy...Snookers, even though I haven't been to the new location, still remains one of my all time favorite haunts for pool halls in the country. Next time you go, you have to try Regina's Meatballs...out of this world.

Steve played at a high level, and is very particular with his equipment. I have NEVER, in 15 years, heard of his tables playing bad. Of course, they did have tan cloth on there for a couple of years, but they have to make a living. ;) The Goulding's are great people too...easy to talk to and they love pool players. See you in a couple of weeks Eric...

I enjoyed seeing the banners of each winner's name over the tables with the tan cloth in the old Snooker's. You might be able to see Ginky's and Tony Robles' names on a few banners, I think, from this pic. :)
