No, it wasn't. Honestly, I'm really glad it wasn't. We're a tight group. A significant portion of us will be in Las Vegas next week and we all have a great time together. The general attitude in the league is let the games decide the winner - not rules.
However, it's easy to overlook something like that in your home room. If you're playing amongst strangers, it's a different story.
Then I am confused about your post...or possibly you are! (-:
You started your OP with..."So last night was the league finals at my home room and during one of the final games of match, I saw something that I thought was inexcuseable."
So, if it was "inexcusable" why are you so glad the foul wasn't called??
One of the MAIN reasons there are rules disputes is because the rules are enforced selectively or inconsistently or not at all.
I understand that it was your regular league and you are all pals but I think it is unfair to the OTHER team in the league fouls are not called.
You will recall a huge thread recently on the subject of whether people should call undectected fouls on themselves...and there was this whole big thing about the "integrity of the game."
In another similar thread, some guy came back from a break and moved balls on the table not realizing that his opponent had already broken the rack. Whether that was a foul and/or whether it should have been called was also a major controversy.
Personally, friends or not...I think that the deal should be that all fouls get called because, as I noted above, it just sets a bad precedent when certain fouls ARE called and others are not and it is also unfair to the other competitors.
But mostly I am just curious about why you started what is sort of a pet peaves thread which mentioned etiquette issues that aren't even fouls in some cases, when you would not call an actual foul.
Regards,
Jim
PS: If that incident would have made the difference between your team qualifying for Vegas or not...would you have called the foul?
