Rumors about the WPBA

I feel these are big issues in the world of pool and should be addressed and questioning things are OK.

Really? This is one of the big issues in the pool world? I highly doubt it.

What is your real reason for nitpicking at the WPBA? And if you never intend to join - then why do you even care?

Just being a conscious consumer. I like to know a bit about organizations or businesses before I support them. Kinda seems a bit dictatorial to me and would seem only to be a road block for the players in order to make the organization stronger. Just questions dude. I haven't burnt any of my bras yet. I have to agree with you that its not as big an issue in the pool world as I thought. Nobody really gives a flying eff. Do you think that this rule would ever hinder any of the WPBA members? Remeber that we arent talking about the WPBA but just the conflict of interest rules.

The real reason I'm nitpicking is because I always thought the US open allowed women to play but I found out that this was the first year. I was having a hard time wrapping my head around this and other people said that the members of the WPBA may have not allowed its player to play even if the US open had allowed them to. Just not getting how that organization or rule would help pool players. But like I said, no one cares and its ok. I'm not into being thought police. Just surprised that an event I watched for years discriminated against pool players for a very long time.
I think that allowing the ladies to play in the open this year is a turning stone pool and wondering if there are any other road blocks for these pool players.

Wpba

is the WPBA still around? last i checked they only have 2 events this year and they are not coming to the hard rock in hollywood this year. BTW does anyone know why they arent playing at the hard rock casino this year??

I would say there only could be one reason. Hard Rock felt they were not worth the money. Casinos aren't doing well in this economy either. Johnnyt

Sorry don't know if anyone's answered this aspect or not...

In order for I believe the top 32 or so WPBA players to be able to participate in a non WPBA specific event they have a waiver procedure. There are two options to event producers interested in allowing or inviting players from the WPBA to an event.

A. WPBA Recognized
B. WPBA Sanctioned

There is a cost and procedures associated with both levels. The U.S. Open 10-Ball Championship, which we produce, has WPBA Recognition Status, which allows all WPBA players to enter at will. I believe "Sanctioned" is considerably more expensive and would make the event be part of the WPBA calendar and is only open to WPBA players. If I'm wrong on that detail let me know ladies :)

Thanks and happy November! Love the fall...because we're entering the main pool season.
