Runde not taking orders

I spoke with Bob a few days ago looking to have a shaft made. He stated that he is not taking orders anymore. I think this may be his last year doing cues. I have heard this for 3 or 4 years, but I think it is true now. I also asked him if he ever had any dealings with Szamboti in the early days. He laughed pretty good. And a third note, it states that he worked with a major pool manufacturer in the 70's, but it never said who. He told me he helped McDermott get their machines setup. I am broke as hell, but I will not let my Runde go. I love his work. Just thought I would share the info.

I think Runde worked for Schon a few decades ago. Back then the points were sharp and not rounded like the ones you see these days. Didnt know he set up the McD machines.

Runde

Runde worked with Schon from 1980 to 1993. The rounded points are from 1988 and on I believe. Runde era are technically all Schons pre schon logo on the joint collar of the shaft, which is 1993. The ones people want are the sharp pointed Schons. I have one, and I love it.

I own a Runde cue now and i've owned a couple in the past. Bob's cues play great and the workmanship is as good as i've seen in a pool cue.

I have a super fancy Runde which I changed the joint from steel to "Hard Plastic" which gave it a wonderful hit and feel ans
d brought the weight down to 18.7. I have been offered a trade of a new scrimshawed Southwest. Had to turn it down!! Kudos to Runde and his quality!

I am sure your Runde is nice but I would have ripped the guy's arm off if it was still attached to the SW.

Um... did you ask him *why* he's not taking new orders?

It may be that he's got a full dance card and doesn't want to take new orders 'til he works through his current backlog. *shrug*

Yeah. I wish I knew someone who was selling one for a great price....

If I had the cash, I would have to add your Runde my collection.

He didn't state why he was not taking anymore orders. I didn't want to pry.

I would have done the trade, sold the SW, bought another Runde and kept the difference. I think I may be one of few that find "fancy" SW's to be really ugly.
