Is a Runde cue built to the same specs as when he was building Schon's?
Just curious if anyone has both and has compared them in hit/shaft taper/playability etc.
thanks -jeff

It's my understanding that Runde made great cues during the Schon era and that he just keeps getting better and better.

If they don't respond to this thread you might want to PM "HOWARDTHEDICK" or "HERSHEYBARBILLIARDS". I'd value their opinions:)

The major comparision would be that during the Schon era, Runde was building cues as part of a company that had various objectives and he was an integral part of that team. Today, he builds cues on an individual basis and builds them based on his own objectives. The resulting product is outstanding in both cases.

If you want a Schon, buy a Schon. It you want a custom made cue, buy a Runde.

Do you think that Runde cues don't get enough respect because of his past association with Schon?

I have 3 recent Runde cues & rank him up there with the best. His attention to detail & choice of materials is really impressive. IMHO he is one of the most underated makers out there.

Bob is one of the best out today

Bob Runde is one of the best of today's current cuebuilders. He made great cues when he was part of Schon cues and since he started under his own name, after Schon, he has gotten to be a world class cue builder. At least 9 or ten years ago, I had the chance to play with one of his cues that featured his, then new, joint design. He was trying to get the same feel as a one piece cue. He did it. That was not just my opinion, the people that were part of the dealer that he was using did a blindfold test. People were blindfolded and told to hit a ball with the new Runde joint and a one piece cue. They were unable to tell any difference. When I played with the cue with that joint, it was the best hitting cue of any I had ever played with, it really did feel like a one piece cue. I agree with the statement that Bob is one, if not the most, under rated cuebuilder today. If you can afford it, buy one of his cues, you'll be glad you did.

I will 3rd this opinion. Class guy who builds great cues. I have one of his old Schons and a new cue he made for me in 2000.
