Sad day in the pool world - Mika Immonen 1972 * 2025

Ronnie O’Sullivan, a legend in snooker, pauses with us to honor Mika. Champions recognize champions. They know what it takes, what it costs, and what it means to rise to the very top. Mika Immonen’s passing has shaken not just the world of pool, but the greater family of cue sports.

This one really stings- Mika was such a fierce competitor. He had such a passion for life- shame he died so young.

I know his competitive side rubbed some people the wrong way, but many of us can relate to behaving differently in competition.

He was very friendly off the table and actually directly interacted with the fans face to face and on social media.

One of my favorite all-time pool players. Very sad day.

Why…..because people can’t read 6 simple words in the title followed by RIP Mika Immonen?

The title is like a billboard on a highway. Just a quick flash view tells you what it says and you
literally don’t had to read or pronounce every syllable in your mind or move you lips reading it.

If anyone can’t glance at the thread’s topic and instantly know what it is about, those folks need
to return to grammar school for a refresher course on reading comprehension. Today is a sad day.
 
No more pains, the last battle was the toughest. RIP Mika.

I first met him early-mid 90s when I was starting as a junior player. He had the grace and finesse and world champion aura around him from the beginning. Fierce competitor, absolutely hated losing and was thus often misunderstood. He had a big heart, very friendly and approachable. Didn’t know him that well, I moved in Helsinki in 1996 and we played for the same club Ritz Club for a couple of years before he located to NY. He was mostly practicing straight pool alone when I saw him, he knew that was the path to master the game. He also played very high level snooker and Finnish traditional game of Kaisa.

Rest now Mika, champion, legend! 💔 The most successful pool player ever in Finland.

If accustats gonna release game from him please let it be match vs Jason Klatt. I think it is one of best matches i´ve ever seen. Dunno sure but maybe it was in U.S Open when Mika won.. @azhousepro

It's a reminder to all of us that we can never take the presence of the legends of pool for granted, and that we must tell them how much they mean to us when afforded the opportunity.

Condolences to FAMILY and FRIENDS, the pool world lost a great player and fierce competitor.
