I myself have been through the attack/defense debate, I have improved my potting but refused to go defense in many occasions, and I failed to beat better players. now that I pay more attention to decisive safeties, I find that they are all within my reach and quality of my game has vastly improved.

Nice. I find that even if I can't get the lock up safety or snooker, at least I can create separation or a long shot on the rail
