Samsara Cue comparison

I am in the process of getting new 60” cue. 30” on the butt and 30” on the shaft. I got to have the leather wrap :D. This pushes me into a custom cue market. I am looking at spending up to $1300. One of the cues I was looking at was the Samsara.
How do these compare to the production cues like: McDermott, Schon, Pechauer, Joss, Meucci, etc…?
I am 100% a performance guy. I am currently shoot with a low deflection shaft and I sure get one for my new cue. I probably will just have a regular one and then the low deflection one.
In my price range is there another cue maker I should be looking at?
Would I be wasting my money since I would be shooting with the ld shaft anyway?
 
Maybe I should save a few bucks and avoid the Samsara.
Nobody has anything has anything good to say about them?
Any negative comments?
 
I cant speak on Samsara but I can on the others you mentioned. The only one I would avoid personally is the Meucci, I've had them warp on me after taking fine care of it. You did mention Pechauer, and I am a Pechauer guy. I have a few of there cues including a custom. They are fantastic to deal with, nice people and produce a very high quality cue. If you are interested in going that route I would contact them and they would be happy to work something up for you I'm sure. I'm guessing your really tall and thats why you want a 60 inch cue?
 
I haven't hit alot with Samsara but my friend has one. Exceptionally made and the hit is as good as anything I have hit with. You can't go wrong IMO.
 
Yes, you are correct.
I am abut 6' 1".
Too many times my back hand is about off the butt.
58" is too short, 59" might be okay, but if I am going to spend the cash I would rather do it one time and get a blanaced cue. I really don't think I will sorry at all wiht a 60" cue.
 
give Paul Sumrall a call (S&S cues)...He can built you a 60 inch cue...you can go to the cue gallery section to see the cue he has built for me..His cues look great and are affordable
 
This is how I see it. Samsara cues are beautifully made custom cues. They have a line called LIMITED which are in the price range you are looking. They are a big step up from the cues you mentioned. They have a distinctive style, particularly the ones with the intarsia patterns in the butts. They have won many awards for style and execution. I would highly recommend them.

And more importantly....they retain their value! You can expect to sell that cue three years from now for about the same or more than you paid for it. Just check out the lack of used Samsara's that are offered on the Wanted Section or Ebay. That would be almost none.
 
I guess my question changes into then, is the Samsara constructed that much better than some of these other cues?
Maybe I am wrong but I was thinking these were in the top 1% or 2% of cues out there.
 
Twal- Samsara's are actually functional art. The inlay work and the designs are fantastic. I owned many at one time and I can tell you if you appreciate fine things their work will be pleasing. Over the years they have evolved and the hit is excellent. In the old days, people didn't like their "stiff" or "hard" hit. Some complained they couldn't draw with them. I always loved them. You could make a paper thin, length of the table cut with them. I haven't been able to make the same cuts with current cues. Like I said, they have developed and evolved over the years. If you can swing a Samsara, I think you should absolutely grab one. I don't think you will be unhappy with it. Again, you will have a great shooting cue, that also is a piece of art.
