Samsara tip problems

I have had problems with Samsara break tips coming off. They were put on with superglue gel. I had used 50 grit sandpaper to rough ferrule and tip surfaces. What can I do to stop them from coming off? Different glue?? Different grit sandpaper? More/less grit? Thanks!

I have had a samsara tip on since December and what I did was cut a "x" on back of tip and haven't had a problem. Used super glue gel as well.

I had the same problem back in early March. I bought a break shaft for my break cue butt, and hit normal speed, center table break shots, and the tip popped off after about 20-22 break shots. When I checked the tip/ferrule out, the ferrule seemed to have a soft spot in the center. I called Royce up at OB, and he took care of it pronto without any hassle or charge. The only problem I had was waiting a couple of weeks to get the shaft back. All said and done, I shoot pool almost every day, and since March 24th or so, I have had nothing but great breaks with the shaft. Give him a call, he'll take care of you. Good shootin!

Samsara Tip

Use regular super glue first let soak in and dry on the tip. Then rough up with 100 grit a little to even glue out then use your gel. Sometimes you have to use a couple coats of regular super glue because the glue soaks into a lot of layered tips. All you need is one coat on the Samsara.

I take it a step further and cut a checker board pattern (about 6 cuts in each dirrection) on the back of the tip and the face of the ferrule. Used to pop white diamond tips off all the time before i did this. No problems since, it really gives the glue something to hold on to.

Pay first watch-then try yourself

Its always fun to do things on our own- but learning how from a installer/cue maker is best first. Just learn how to do correctly and tips last yrs. Samara tips do split in half- with a razor blade and skill. glues (epoxy's vs super glue gels have different temp. ratings, which come in play when turning the tips down. Do I want the tip done in 10 mins- or over- night Again (Stanley) implying razor blades trim tips best. There are spray hardeners where the finish and tip can be completed in minutes. people over burnish the tip and burn the edges, all the Predator shaft ferrules require (extra knowledge, skill to work on!! please let the Pro do these !! It will be money well spent. mark

rough up both tip and ferrule. glue both tip and ferrule separately and let 'em dry. sand 'em again then glue them together. it let's the glue stick to itself

I've only had one shaft that was a problem with them not sticking. It was on a cheap cue, so I changed the ferrule. Also, I used epoxy for the tip install. Months later and still staying on. I've installed a bunch of these, if the ferrule material is good they will stay on without any special treatment.

If the tips continue to come off .... Try replaceing the ferrule. Some folks use PVC for ferrule material. PVC is not good at holding glue.

Do you keep the tip tall? I shave almost half of the tip off and then start to shape it. Might just be my imagination, but I feel a shorter tip has less torque exerted on it during the break.

Had the same problem when I used loctite gel super glue. I called ob too and he said he used loctite professorial super glue. Haven't had any problems since.
