Samsara tips for jump cues

First, thank you to all who have commented on previous threads of mine. Trying to learn a lot fast so I ask a lot of questions. Your opinions help a lot since I live in a pretty rural area without a lot of expertise.

For the past year I have been using White Diamond tips on an old Viking break jump cue and also on a cheap butterfly jump cue that I don't use much. I am in the market for a new custom break only cue to replace the Viking as it is getting too whippy for breaking well. These tips seemed to do the trick for jumping with my B/J. The breaking hasn't gone as well and finally this weekend a few rounds into a local tournament, I broke a crucial rack, the tip flew across the room, nothing dropped, my opponent ran out and I was out of the tournament. Not what I had expected.

I recently bought a Samsara tip for whichever break cue I end up getting but am now wondering about using my jump cue with the WD tip. Sounds like this could happen in a jump shot too. IN Your Opinions would the Samsara tip work as well on a jump only cue???? It isn't a fancy custom made cue, just a lower end production model. I just don't want to go and buy one to put on only to find out it doesn't do the trick very well.

If this wouldn't work well, any recommendations on a jump-ONLY cue for under $100.00. I really want to try and go with 2 separate cues as most players seem to recommend. I would really like to use my existing jump and spend more on a break only cue.

Any thoughts would again be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thank you.

FWIW, I couldn't get a White Diamond tip to stay on a cue no matter which glue (and I tried four different types) I used nor how I prepared the tip/ferrule.

I too have a couple of budget J/B cues that had the 1-piece phenolic tip/ferrule on them. I wanted them to be BCA legal. Iwas advised by some here on this forum to go with the Samsara break tips. I did. They break and jump just as well as the phenolic that came on the cues. Never looked back. If I were you, I'd sh*tcan the White Diamond and glue that Samsara on.

Hope this helps!!!

I have the smasara on my break cue, and I use the same shaft for my jump cue since I broke the jump cue shaft. Can jump easily with it and breaks just fine.

Have a Samsara tip on my j/b, it jumps & breaks just fine. Actually, I have more control jumping with the Samsara than I ever did with phenolic.

Same here...I use a Samsara jump/break tip on my McDermott Stinger. Breaks and jumps like phenolic, but with control!

I use the Samsara tip on my X Breaker for breaking (use an OB brk shaft), and my Lomax jump cue.
Wouldn't trade for anything else - including the WD, which I have tried and didn't like.
Far better control with the Samsara tip.
Btw - Steve Lomax puts the Samsara tips on his jump cues, and he definitely knows what works on a jump cue.

Thank you all for the advice. I think I have my course of action. I will purchase a break cue with plans to put on a Samsara tip. Also, the Samsara tip I just got will find a new home on my budget jump cue for now. Thanks again for all the input......

Just a little piece of advice to save you frustration. If you're planning on installing it yourself, make sure to trim the tip down to about 2/3 to 1/2 its original height. If you don't, like I did before I realized, it will pop off after a couple breaks. The reason is, if you don't hit the ball perfectly center, it'll cause excess sideways force on the tip and will compromise the glue bond.

Mike Gulyassy was running a special on his Orange Crusher break cues and his jump cues also. I grabbed a break cue for half his usual price and it works great .... I love it. It comes with a Samsarra installed.

Thanks for the advice. Although I won't be installing myself, I will pass this info. on to my friend who does the installs. Thanks again,

John

Ive heard that Samsara's are very hard to install.

They are THE best break or jump tip in the market today :)
