Anyone know of any good pool rooms in the San Diego area or just north of there? A friend of mine is gonna be there in a week and is looking for a place to practice. Thanks!

On Cue is the spot these days. There used to be a lot of action at College Billiards, but from what I've heard it's fallen off.

back when i left on cue was great. 20+ gold crowns and a 6/12 snooker table. never too hard to get a game. i miss hanging out there

Pacific Cue in Encinitas, which is North County San Diego.
Where will he be staying?

pool rooms..

I think both Stix (Poway) and Jolt n Joes (Escondido) are no longer around.

The La Mesa and Gaslamp Jolt n Joes are still around though.

On Cue is about a 20 minute drive from RB but is prob the best bet.

College Billiards is good as well but parking can be an issue. They have a ring game on Friday nights.

follow up...

The Jolt n Joes that was in Escondido is now a place called Woodies Sports Bar & Grill. Can't comment on the place because I've never been.

About 15 miles south of Rancho Bernardo is a funky room called Society Billiards. They have good food and friendly staff. The problem is, they don't have great playing conditions but it's interesting all the same.

is that the place downtown? i think i've got a shirt from there. it's pretty cool from what i remember. 2 story pool hall with a full bar and lunch time/food specials

Well if that's the case it would probably be worth checking out.
Woodies use to be on the other side of town. It at one time had a good pool crowd with some good tournaments.

No, you're thinking of the old Gaslamp Billiards (now Jolt'n Joe's). Society Billiards is in the Pacific Beach area.

The conditions are horrible there because it's an open air pool hall. It gets really humid inside, to the point that my cue stick got really sticky. No action there either...maybe just good for looking at all the hot girls walking by on Garnet.

This pretty much sums up the reason I go there occasionally.
