Hey girls and guys ...
I'm a cue maker in disguise 😊

Next week me and my son go to America and San Francisco for the First time!
And we are very thrilled!!! From 14 till 21 of October.
We go to see the NBA game between Golden state warriors and LA Lakers.
AMAZINGGGG... It's my boy his 13 th birthday..🤡🥳🤩

Who can recommend us poollovers to some crucial places to visit, like for watching
the reyes cup or some iconic shops or makers or woodshops...
Or any other must sees are very welcome :)
We are from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Good luck with the Mosconicup this year, I believe you will have a serious good change because your players seem more sharp and determined, better shape then the europeans.

Anyway, thank you in advance and my favorite cue maker is Paul Fanelli and Eddie from EO Cues.
I have a wonderful lathe from Chris Hightower standing in my shed ✌️

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and Cheers,
Niels.

San Fran was always one of my favorite places to visit. A beautiful city with a lot to see.
As far as pool, I have played at Family billiards and the Billiard Palacade, but it has been a few years.
I have also peeked my head into Town & Country, but never played there.

Have a great time!

Wow! That sounds like a great trip!

Scenery - drive us 1 south to Santa Cruz - stop and have fish tacos in half moon bay.

Stop at Ano Nuevo and walk the mile or so to see the elephant seals.

There are numerous pullouts along the road. Don’t get too close to the edge!

China beach is a great lesser known place to take early morning photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Baker beach is also nice.

The Golden Gate Bridge is best viewed from the Marin side in the Marin headlands. There are parking spots and pullouts along the coast with spectacular views. There are also lots of hiking trails there with huge views.

Big trees - there are a few good places to see the big redwoods and/or sequoias around the Bay Area. The Santa Cruz redwoods are great. It’s a long, very curvy drive but well worth it. Muir Woods is another one that has an easy, yet beautiful walking path through the groves.

If you want to drive a bit you can head up north to the Avenue of the Giants and the coastal redwood areas.

Yosemite is a bit far for a day trip but can be done with an early start.

Pool rooms - obviously Ca Billiards in Fremont (1 hr) and Hard times in Sacramento. (2 hr). Family billiards is a good room in San Francisco with a lot of history.

Looking at the website I don’t think a 13 y/o can go to Family Billiards. May want to check beforehand. I am traveling w/ our 17 y/o at the moment. Sitting in San Jose. I thought about checking out California Billiards or Jimmy’s but probably won’t get to either one this short trip. We’ll see.

I assume you are mostly looking for pool related sights.

I don't know of much to see related to cue making. You might contact Richard Chudy, a cue maker about 50 kilometers east of San Francisco. His contact info is available on google.

For pool rooms, Family Billiards is a problem as mentioned above. 18 and over, only.

Other pool rooms in the area:

California Billiards in Fremont
Buffalo Billiards in Petaluma
Hardtimes north of Sacramento
Surf City in Santa Cruz and Fast Eddy's in Capitola
Easy Street in Monterey (where Schmidt ran 626)
946 Billiards in Sunnyvale
Jimmy's in Milpitas (has 5 carom match tables plus Diamonds)
The Great Entertainer in San Mateo
The Billiard Palacade in San Francisco
Town and Country in Daly City

I think all of those are OK with kids with parents. Of those, I think the first three are the most interesting, pool-wise. There are a few others you can find in Google Maps -- search on "billiard parlors".

I could see wanting to watch Golden State play, but I wouldn't give a dime to Leflop James and his not ready for prime time son.

I was born and raised in SF and frankly, though it still has some iconic sites, it’s not the same as in it’s hey days.

Some things I’d recommend:
A coffee in the Italian district at the top of Columbus; a cable car ride from Powell to Giradelli Square; if there Pier 39 for lunch/ drinks and see the sea lions; walk across or at least drive the Golden Gate Bridge and have a meal in Sausalito; and take a 2 hr drive down the coast stopping at Half Moon Bay then stopping at Monterey — their aquarium is amazing,

Not much left of the pool scene from the days of The Palace and Cochrans. Cue maker-wise you’d need to go way down south to Hollywood to visit Ernie and his Ginacue shop, which is amazing.

This post really is one of the dumber I’ve seen on this forum in a while. Someone is asking a legitimate question and you pipe in with a boring, hackneyed non sequitur response that has nothing to do with the topic. I’m sure LeBron is quaking in his boots at your negative appraisal of him and his son.

Same for the picture of homeless people above. As if you can’t find bad parts of every city in America.

Luckily the OP won’t encounter people like you on his trip.

You've got some good advice here, enjoy your trip.

Crime has increased in the city the last few years, so be vigilant, some on here don't like to hear that for political reasons, but it's worth mentioning for a foreign tourist.
And don’t leave anything in your car. Anything.

Solid advice here

I grew up a hour from the Bay Area. I was born there.

Enjoy the trip.

If you have the time to drive south to Monterey Bay that’s nice. I have a friend who owns whale watching boats-they are huge. It’s a super fun time. PM me and I can hook you up. You’ll get the red carpet treatment. I’m not the best at PM’s but I’ll keep my eye on it.

Best
