Sand Your Shaft Or Not?

BUY yourself some Q WAX aka CARNUBA WAY, and use it on the SHAFT to help it stay CLEAN. When you feel the need for another Q WAXING do it, your shaft will stay clean.
 
IMO thats one of the smartest things you can do. I'm right handed and I don't think I've ever even touch the chalked with my left hand.

im right handed ,i only chalk with my right hand.i use a pocket chalker it stays in my right front pants pocket.
i never want chalk on my bridge hand....................................................

I go thru the process the obcues website recommends for the cleaning of their shafts.

They recommend using a small amount of denatured alcohol (less water content than rubbing alcohol) and a mr. clean magic eraser to clean it. All of my shafts look almost brand new, i clean them all this way. Remember to use some kind of cue shaft wax to reseal the shaft (.... this is more for LD shafts.)

I have all uniloc shafts. I have a spare uniloc pin i picked up awhile ago... I chuck it up in my cordless battery drill and mount the shafts on the pin and do the process that way. Works great!

i would use the green scotch bright pads on my shift they dont wear the shaft down as fast and work just as good as sand paper

I ordered the cue clean kit from Seyberts, and it cleans, smooth’s, seals, and slikings your shaft up like no other. I have always used a Mr. Clean eraser, and a proper leather burnisher. I have now started using cue clean kit, and it very easy to use. In only a few minutes your shaft will be back to new, and sealed up so chalk will not be back into the pours of the shaft. i'm too cheap for cleaners

paper towel or magic eraser and a couple drops of water.
buff dry with soft cotton cloth.
burnish with wax paper.

on my ash snooker cue i use linseed oil and burnish paper towel, then leather the next day. keeps the grain from falling out of the cue. never tried linseed on maple though, anybody done this?
