Sandpaper Brand?

The reason I asked is that I used to use 3M paper , but this Klingspor is about 1/2 the price & I have no problems with it. The cheapest I can find 3M gold fre-cut is about $50 for a 50 sheet sleeve. Klingspor is $25...JER

where do you purchase this brand ? I normally buy whatever is on sale,,, sometimes I waste $ on some brands that are worthless. I do some metal work and use a lot of 'emerycloth' type in rolls..... j

I use KLINGSPORE sandpapers, which do you use?...JER

Jerry, I use 3M Imperial Wet/Dry and Meguiars Unigrit finishing Wet/Dry sand paper for the finish, and I purchase it at Sherman Williams Automotive paint stores in 320, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000.

For general purpose sanding I use Norton sand paper in 100, 150, 220, 320,400, and 600, I purchase this in contractors packages. For finishing shafts before sealing I use 3M Softback sanding sponges in Fine grit, Super Fine Grit, Ultra Fine Grit, and Micro Fine Grit, these come in box's of 20ea. I also use these 3M sponges for finishes wet.

I order 120 grit emery cloth & it too is $25 a roll.
KLINGSPOR @ 1-800-645-5555 ext 1280
They are located in Hickory NC...JER

I use both 3M & Norton for most stuff on cues with the exception of Micro-mesh for polishing clearcote or platics sometimes, but I have others I use for metal or whatever else I may need them for.

I get 3m seconds or salvaged papers sometimes, and they work plenty well enough for cleaning shafts and most general purpose stuff. I even use them on finish sometimes, and they work for that also. The 400 and 600 I get work well on shafts because they cut well enough without removing alot of material, and I use alot of It, so the price break is also a bonus.:)

E-bay

There is a guy on E-Bay, sandpaper_man or something like that. I think you can get the 3M for about $25 a pack.

Did you see where he charges $10.50, for shipping one sleeve of sandpaper!...JER
Yes sir, but you get 200 sheets for $39.50, which is less than 1/4th of what you were paying for it no matter the shipping cost..."The cheapest I can find 3M gold fre-cut is about $50 for a 50 sheet sleeve" Just trying to lead you into a less expensive 3M paper. I use this guys paper, and it works fine and is a great deal IMO.

Sorry, I didn't take the time to read it all. Sounds like a good deal...JER

Hope it helps...I have been experimenting with the Nortons 3x, it seems very soft, and does not gum up as easy as 3M IMO... Bout 1/2 the price of 3M and last 5 times longer... Tiger Products told me about it, and I love it so far...Might try it Jerry.

That guy is easy to deal with too, he will give you whatever combination of quanity you want, so if you wanted more 600 then 400 for instance he will hook It up. I have bought that paper from him a few times, and never have had any complaints. Even If You only used It for shaftwork alone It would save you alot. He ships quickly also. It Does gum up some with finish, but still works well If you keep switching out for a clean piece.

I like the Norton too, so I use both. They make an emery cloth in sheets also that I have found usefull with some of the retapering jobs that have to be done by hand. It cleans out very easily for me, so the same piece lasts Me a long time depending on what I use It for.
