sad to report that the sang lee international tournament for 2009 has been cancelled due to inadequate funding. organizers are hopeful that once the economic situation in the world improves the tournament will once again take place.

also, full results of the first leg of the 3-cushion tour are available on the usba website.

Agreed that it is sad news. I have never had the pleasure of attending, but I recall tales of participants treated like royalty by the Hosts.

I wish there was something we could do to assist...

That Sad News, if it true. Because Dieckman early this week call me to let me know after SLIO Tournament. He was going to NJ, Then to Virginia Beach,Va around the 14 thru 16 of Aug. Might have to get in touch to see how this will change thing!!!!!

A message from Charles Brown, the tournament director for the Sang Lee International Open:

A 2009 Sang Lee International Open Tournament will not be possible this year because the organizers have not been able to raise enough funds to ensure the success of this prestigious event as in previous years. A great effort has been made but time is running short now so we have made the decision to call off the tournament for this year and channel our efforts for the future. We are positive that the financial climate will improve and we look forward to the continued success of the SLIO in future years.

Damnit, I was going to attend for the first time this year. A player in my pool pall was going to compete as well

I have never been, but I remember the poster for this tournament in 2005. I was hoping I could get one because I thought it was so beatifully done.

Sorry to see it end for this year. Maybe things will change for next year.
