You made that comment about being small like him, and not looking like you could play, so I figured I would tease you a little. Chances are, if you played close to his speed, I would have heard of you.
Have a GREAT day......

Sam, Yes I knew you were joking. From your other thread a couple weeks ago, I think I do understand your sense of humor.

Have a Great Day,
Andrea

Santos has moved to chicago area and is giving lessons out of Chris' II in Des Plaines, IL.

He also gives lessons at Chris's in Chicago, in case you like a more "authentic" atmosphere - you know: dark, dirty, bad food, no alcohol, old timers asleep in the chairs and pool players out of high school (one way or another).

I remember him beating Mark Tadd for the cash in Las Vegas in 93 or 94. I think he beat tadd out of 2 sets. They played even.

HEY NOW......After a sumptuous lunch of hot dogs, cheetos and ding dongs for dessert, I was napping in one of Chris's very comfortable arm chairs, in a nice cool, dark, corner, when somebody woke me up to tell me about this insulting post from Patrick "fish of the day" Johnson.......Pat Johnson, I have to say that I deeply resent, I mean resemble your post....and now I'm going back to my nap until somebody comes in to play.

ps, Freddie the Beard is napping in the chair next to me

I've never been there, but just reading this post about people napping in the chairs waiting on a game, brought back memories for me. No, I wasn't sleeping in the chairs at the pool rooms. But I have walked into some places where an old-timer or 2 were napping in a chair close to the door, looks up just long enough to ask if I wanna play some. then nods back off.
You have to ask yourself, if the guy has no idea who you are, and asks you to play, chances are he plays pretty good and you better be ready.

If you come to Chicago, you have to go to Red Shoes on the South Side in Alsip also... plenty of old timers looking for a game... great atmosphere and action...

i know he's from the philiphines, and doesn't really legally live here, is his english good enough to give lessons without having troubles understanding him?
He didn't speak much, mostly demonstrate, he was more watching me and giving pointers at first, it got a little faster as he saw where I was at as far as skill level... If you don't know jack about pool, he might not be too helpful... I did more of the talking and he would tell me how he would go for here to there...

I did learn a lot, mainly a few things noone ever tells you... I am more self taught, never lived in one place too long to have a mentor...

Playing onepocket -- Santos vs Chris Gentile -- The winner is ???????

I have to admit I don't know who Chris Gentile is, but, I've seen Santos play a number of times, so going in blind, I wouldn't hesitate to bet on Santos.

I found out a long time ago, you can never, ever, look at someone and tell whether they can play pool or not.

Will Pay (Billy Peay, Cecil, etc) is a perfect example
