Sarah Ellerby vs Jennifer Chen (How would you rule?)

OMG!

I have been waiting YEARS to hear or read these words!

I think it's time to see who the REAL pool player is in that family!

(I plan on starting a countdown calendar - hopes Phoebe plans on terrorizing the Florida Tours during her comeback)

I would love to try and play qualifiers in Florida/east coast.....just a matter of ticket prices cause they can be extremely costly at times. Thats why I am more prone to play west coast tourneys if anything, even though they are limited. As you see in the next post...I got offered a sweet deal on room/board, so I just might visit there!!!

Thanks you always for the support!

Phoebe - I f you ever want to stay at my house for easier access to tournaments or qualifiers in FL. Feel free to call me. I would realy love to c you pick up the cue again. You are an AWESOME player. (you can bring your kids too, I love 'em.)

Monica,

You live in Florida now? Last i remember you were in Georgia, right? Well, it's been a while so a lot must have changed since I last saw you. As for the kids....sorry...Imma leave um home...lol!!! If i go to Florida...it is MY time!!! Hahaha! If it is finacially prudent...my kids will always be with me.

Thank you so much monica for the offer.....so happy to know that I have an option when I get back on the qualifying trail to possibly play down there in Florida. Thanks to you!! But, for now, I just have to settle for dreaming about playing everynight, until the kids a re a bit older...waaaaaah!:p

Here in Orlando there are quite a few players - not sure if they will offer room an board - but you never know...

If you ever want to stop in for a Ladies Spirit Tour event - let me know - I am sure that between myself, Heather Barkley, and PoolHallMaven, we could find room and board for you quite easily!

All you gotta do is get out here!

Ok enuff about my comeback...lol!!! It's still a ways away....

back to the subject -

For anyone who knows me...I am very straight foward, and pretty much answers any questions one might have for me. I speak my opinions proudly and have no shame in my beliefs, and have no regrets, and I'm sure some people take it the wrong way.

I posted my "2 cents" at first, just to do it. I figured it good reading, it was TRUE what had happened, and I thought it to be kinda related to the topic.

Now this happened in 2003 - 5 years ago - and this is the first time I even mentioned it to anyone. However Sarah is disciplined/punished (if any, because Jennifer could have been making the whole thing up) is not up to me and I have no opinions except it be fair. I just thought I'd share to the world/AZ/forum/whoever is interested my experiences - that's up to me, right? I do have that right, don't I??

Am I picking sides? Hell yeah I am....I believe Jennifer....since there are no witnesses does it mean I can't choose whom i believe?? The whole point is that without witnesses you have to eventually choose....and you look (like Monica stated) to past actions/behavior/incidents to try and make a decision.

I think it is obvious...I don't like the bs, and extra "words"....wrong is wrong...once in a while there is gray areas but come on....I am just a simple person keeping the issue SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. once again - my opinion, and my perogative to share it.

I don't know Sarah personally - it's obvious she wouldn't have given me the time of day anyway. I don't know Jennifer personally either - but I've been around her a lot, even seen her here in Hawaii a lot in the past too - she was a good person. An intense player/very competitve.

I take to heart what Linda, Monica, Sarah R., and Melissa have posted. Granted I am no longer a part of the WPBA, I still am curious on what goes on within it - so i looked at the name of this thread, and responded - How do you rule?

There is no wrong or right in posting a reply here....no one (except Melissa) is on the "Board" so none of us HAS to be open-minded and (personally) I don't HAVE to be un-biased - my opinion is based on experience and just plain gut-instinct - I'd love to hear people be a little more straight-foward/blunt with their opinions - I'm sure I can't be the only outspoken one - we all are adults for the most part, right?? LOL!!!:embarrassed2:

Too bad Sarah wasn't around when Ming was on tour. That's one little tiger who would have straightened her out fast. A word to the wise Sarah, if you ever see Ming on tour, don't elbow her. You may lose some body parts if you do.

u wanna bet? How much ? If ming is able to knock u down it does not mean she will be a match to 'velvet'.I will take 'velvet'.:D  :D

MH,

the second (allegedly elbowing a fellow player) is a publicity/safety type issue - though an interesting one, it does not directly affect the integrity of the game.

betmore,
For long time pool players have been clamouring for pool to be elevated to the status of a sport.Elbowing will definitely elevate pool to the status of a sport. Thanks to 'velvet'

When players were clamouring for pool to be elevated to the status of a sport, I don't believe the sport they had in mind was ice hockey.

With a player like this, I would tend to "over" officiate her matches. Meaning I would try to stay as close as possible to her table and observe what's going on. Worked pretty well with Earl in Phoenix. He knew I was watching his every move. :)

JAY, YOU WATCHED "POTS AND PANS" CLOSE TOO!!!!!!

YOU DID A GREAT JOB THE ENTIRE 5 DAYS

T,
You are correct.

I would not consider this an "internal affair". There is no telling how many fans saw either incident. Just because they have not reported here, does not mean that it was not witnessed by more people (in addition to Sarah R.).

The incident with Karen Corr at Peoria was witnessed by many fans; reported and discussed here; never commented on by the WPBA. I'm assuming that no formal complaint was filed; but that does NOT mean that fans will not discuss it. The position that "if you can't prove it, it didn't happen" is untenable to most of the real fans. This game is played for the most part without referee's, and the competitive integrity of the game depends on the honesty of the participants (especially with the "all disputes resolved in favor of the shooter" philosophy that is so prevalent).

Everything that goes on in the pool world is of interest to we the fans, and will be discussed here. We are happy to receive more accurate information; but until then I suspect most will make do with what info we have. Pro football and baseball have both suffered with trying to ignore problems to maintain popularity; hopefully women's pool will not follow their lead.

Phoebe - I still live in GA. Easy access to FL. though. Good night and sleep tight.

ALL i can say is that It's about time. She has been dragging down the WPBA since she arrived with her attitude and slow play...

Tap Tap.

Character counts. Some players have tons of character and others just don't get it at all.

Sarah E is always been on the short list of those who don't get it AT ALL.

I have had enough interaction with her over the years, and it doesn't change too much.

The story is always the same, bad character decision, after bad character decision, after... well you can see where this is going.

The big blow ups are expected, but it's the little subtle things that she has seemed to master. The looks she gives, the sharking techniques...

The new book "101 ways to disrespect your opponent, by Sarah E", will be in stores soon.

QUOTE]

The content of yore comment assures me that I am not unreasonable to assume that you are a WPBA player.

I don't think they would let me play on tour, but I did run a regional tour and the RT tourney on the West coast... I have also been to over 30 WPBA events.

Only a few have mastered the nasty looks and poor character on the WPBA tour.

Sarah E is the best of the best when it comes to that (winning at all costs is a problem with her, IMO).

Poker has Helmuth and the men have Earl, why shouldn't the women also have someone to represent...lol

I dont really think this is comparing apples to apples....Helmuth has a world record of 11 WSOP bracelets and Earl has a world record of 5 US Open wins.....what has Sarah E. won? JMO.

Then , I am dead wrong in my assumption.

I wasn't comparing accomplishments(duh)... just character

Oh, and 100s of tournaments(yawn) against sub par players 10 years ago don't mean anything to me.

>Good point< advantage Southpaw

Maybe we are all going about this the wrong way.

Her nickname "Velvet" is a tad misleading.

I think we need to attach one so that the unsuspecting players have a heads up before they play her ;)
