Well, the official WPBA rankings are posted (on the WPBA website)...and Sarah is #18. She and are tied with 370 ranking points, but since she has made slightly more money, she is awarded with the higher ranking!
But here is the really exciting part....
I believe Sarah should be seeded #16 going into the next event. Ga-Young and Loree Jon Jones are ranked higher (# 17 & 18 respectively), but since neither have Touring Pro status, Sarah should get the #16 seed position. Ga-Young has definitely proven to the world that she deserves Touring Pro status, but in order to get it she needs to play in 80% of the tournaments in the previous year...which she has not done yet. Loree Jon, since she is semi-retired, lost her Touring Pro status when she missed the last 3 events of 2003. She has Active Pro status, but only Touring Pros can be seeded in an event, regardless of ranking. So, again, by my calculations, Sarah should get the #16 seed in the next event.
But....here's the bad news....since the next event is the BCA...they do not do seeding by WPBA rankings. They include some World players into the seeding for the BCA event. For example, last year they seeded Shin Mei Lu and Akimi Kajitani into the event....which ending up bumping some WPBA Top 16 players from the seeding.
Anyhow, I just wanted to congratulate Sarah....even though you might not get the seeding that you deserve at the BCA event....you will definitely get it at Peoria....in front of your home crowd!
Keep it up kiddo!
