Ok, now i heard from a friend of mine that basically 99% of the Pro's are using a Predator shaft on thier cues.

I am curious of how true this is?

And what shafts do you use on your playing cues?

Also is there that much of a difference in using a Predator Shaft?

Now i said this in another post that the Predator Shaft is rated as having the least amount of deflection ( along with the Red dot shaft) And has a very stiff hit to it also.

It also makes me curious of how much of a difference there is between the other company's Like Schon, which has a very stiff hit, and also since i am getting my 5280 shaft, since it is made outa hard maple.

i did notice that going from my Schon to my Meucci that with my Meucci it was alot easier to put english on the cue, and took a bit more to get the proper english from my Schon.

Hi Dave,

I am going to have to say that the 99% figure is a little off. I have tried a Predator shaft out a couple of times but I have always gone back to my regular shaft. I don't know if it is because I like it more or because I haven't had time to adjust to the Predator shaft.

In my opinion the Predator shaft is a huge difference compared to any other shaft. I noticed that cutting balls seemed alot easier. I also noticed that I was using alot of english even when I wasn't trying to.

If you decide to try a Predator, be sure to give it alot of time. I rushed it when I did it and the results were not good. I didn't think it was going to make that much of a difference but I slowly started realizing things that were different.

I may try to use a Predator again during the break. I am undecided right now. I really like my regular shaft but I always have my moments of longing to try a Predator.

Let me know if you try it out and what you think.

Take care,
Sarah

yea, the 99% was a lil bit of a exaggeration lol,

But it was from a friend of mine who shoots alot of pool, and he basically said, you see Strickland using a Cue-tec, but he has a Predator shaft on it lol. And so on with other players.

I hadnt planned on getting a Predator shaft, only cuz, i havent used one, ever, and dont want to lol YET.

But i guess its all personal preference.

Oh,,,, also same guy who told me about the Predator shafts, just got his new Custom Jacoby cue, its nice!

I checked out thier website and they are close to me sorta, but have you heard anything about how thier cues play?

I think i found a new toy for me to get this comming spring lol

Yeah, the 99% is just a little off. I do agree with your friend that the players have cues made by people other than Predator but they use Predator shafts. I can't comment on whether or not Earl uses Predator because I don't know him and I have never seen his cue closely enough to tell.

Jacoby makes nice cues. Alot of players are using Jacoby cues right now. Jeanette Lee uses a Jacoby. Melissa Little is sponsored by Jacoby. And most recently I believe Corey Deuel has started using Jacoby. I personally have not played with one so I cannot give any insight on how they play. But the names above kind of seal the deal that Jacoby is a good product. Plus, you are right, they are somewhat close to you...Wisconsin I believe.

Take care,
Sarah

sarah, you can try my jacoby next time we get together. hopefully before im 50, lol. also, do me a favor and check your PM's. see ya soon, joey

Hi Joey,

I too hope you have your cue soon and that we can get together soon. You guys are going to have to try to get away to one of the pro tournaments. Next year there is one really close, Michigan City, IN.

I hope to see you soon. I have to look to see when I'm going to be available. Maybe the 19th. It's a sunday. You guys can pick where we get together. I'm sorry I have been so busy lately.

Take care,
Sarah

Inside Pool, December Issue, page 85 "Currently, over 50% of the top 40 male professional players (according to the October 2004 UPA rankings) trust their games to Predator without being paid to do so, as well as an increasing number of women professionals."

I like what Pechauer is doing. They make the butt and sell it with a 314. That way one professional can make the shaft while another one can concentrate on the butt. After all when people buy those fine quality, top price cues, they really are paying for the craftsmanship expressed in the design, creation of the butt.

Now if Predator would just put a Mouri tip on the shaft...

I believe Earl has about a dozen different shafts.

Jake
