satin finish

I have worked hard to perfect my nice high gloss finish. Now a guy wants a satin finish on a cue.

I have searched but cannot find the answer to my silly question.

If you use a satin finish, When you do the final sand and buffing will it still be satin or will it gloss up?

It will polish up but not all the way. Why not just put on all the base coats, sand and apply a thin satin coat and leave it alone?

A dulled gloss finish will look great for a while then after some use there will be areas that are a little glossier than others that haven't experienced as much frictional wear.

You can always apply satin, sand it smooth with 600 wet, and use paste wax applied with some #000 steel wool then buffed off. This will look good, feel great and retain its appearance for years. It's also a lot easier than a perfect gloss finish

Why not just add a little dulling agent to your clear before spraying? Assuming you are using automotive clear coat.
