It was a snooker cue, had a blat spot on the butt and I'm not an expert on wood but I think it was partly made from ash. The odd thing was it was shorter than normal, only about 48" or so. No sure what they make those ferrules from but could it have been brass?
I'm thinking somebody had a snooker table but their pool room was a little narrow and they needed the shorter cue.
