Say Hello to my new friend!! Update to Saying good by to an old friend

Well....after much soul searching during the last few months, the family decided to fill the vacancy left by Valor with another dog. He comes to us from another family that was wanting to downsize their pet population. They were going to place him in a shelter until we found him.

Here is a link to my original thread:

Meet Bandit, a 2.5 year old Australian Sheppard!

Sweet blessings are coming your way. Bandit is a cutie pie! :smiling-heart:

I'm happy for you, bud. I couldn't imagine life without dogs. I know you and your family will always love Valor.

I love my dog, Caroms. He is very long in the tooth. I have already decided that when his time comes, I will not hesitate to bring another pup into my life.

Not to replace him, but to honor him.

I'm so glad that your family decided to bring Bandit into your home. He will have such a good life with you, and I know your family will enjoy his companionship.

Just for kicks, here's a funny little dog video I saw on FaceBook tonight:

Congratulations for your new family member!

Sincerely,

I am a big animal lover, looks like you got yourself a new, amazing companion. Congrats!

Just noticed this thread and it made me a little sad. My wife and I have had a beagle/shephard mix for the past 8 years, we adopted him from the local shelter. He was a stray and turned out to be the best dog I have ever had, we just had a new baby and he was great with him right from the start.

2 weeks ago we had some fireworks for the long weekend and our dog got scared and took off. We haven't seen him since and have got no calls from other people or the local shelter. We are still hoping he will come back but it has been so long that the odds don't seem to be in our favor. My wife has taken it exceptionally hard and said to me the other day that she wasn't sure if she wanted another dog because she can't go through this again. I am sure eventually we will get another one but having "Fred" run away was not really the way we planned to lose him, it's nice to see more fellow pet lovers out there, seeing all the pics and stories about your pups helped me smile.

Congrats on the new addition to your family! Our neighbor has and Australian Shepard, they're great dogs!

Here's Wrigley, our 9 month old Brittany.

I will keep Fred in my prayers that he finds his way back home.A friend of my had her cat run away and gave up all hope after several months. Then almost 8 months later her cat was at her back door.

I will, too. I hope Fred is okay. My heart pours out for you and your family.

A few years ago, my Mom called me. She was extremely upset because her 18-year-old and blind Cocker Spaniel (named Noelle) had been missing for a few hours.

[Noelle is the grandmother of my dog Caroms (who is now almost 15 years old himself, and also blind), and his late brother, Kisses.]

They had a seemingly secure fence, but she somehow escaped and wandered off. All of the other dogs were still at home.

My (then) wife and I drove around the area for a few hours. Sure enough, we spotted sweet old Noelle about 60 yards from the road, sleeping right in the middle of a herd of cattle, about 3 miles away from home. We called her over and took her back home. She was fine.

I have no idea how she managed to get through all those barbed-wire fences, and across all those streets, and between all those cattle, and still not end up with a single scratch on her.

Miracles do happen.

Best wishes for Fred and your family,

-Blake

Thanks for the well wishes. It had been over 2 weeks and we were starting to give up. On Monday we got a call that someone thought they saw him in the park a few blocks from our house (this is about 8km away from where he ran away). This week we have had a few more sightings but we still have not been able to find him. My wife has started to leave food out in the park but when I checked this morning the food was still there :frown:. Hopefully we can find him soon, I feel so bad for him being out on his own. I wish we knew someone with a hound dog that might be able to track him.

Bandit looks as if he is going to be a wonderful companion. I love both dogs and cats, but have only a cat because I am away too much from the house for a dog. "Ralph" was a wonderful catch at the shelter, like your Bandit. I think from that expression on Bandit's face, you're going to have to give him a lot of attention. When Ralph gets that tilt to his head and looks directly at me like that it means, "ME. DO SOMETHING WITH. NOW." I get my doggie affection from my sister-in-law's field spaniel, and I share an office with a person who sometimes brings her wonderful shelter dog, Dolly. I am in the process of alienating Dolly's affection. We are making good progress.

My last dog was an Aussie, they're great dogs, and he has a beautiful color.

Good luck with him .... A great find. :)
