Here's a war story that my mind just can't accept. The guy who told it to me seems to be a reliable pool fan, but......................... This guy was living in Houston in the 80's and claims to be an eyewitness to this match? "Little Al Mason supposedly gave no less than Allen Hopkins the 7, 8 and the smash, playing on a Valley with the big cue ball and snapped him off for $1300 at $100 a rack. Personally I doubt that anyone could do that to Allen even today if he's in stroke. Anyone out there who ever heard about this match? All opinions welcome, and thanks.

I've seen Allen play many times and I'm not buying this story.

i doubt that is true but i did see LIL AL play Allen Hopkins even at Rustys in Dallas and he did not even know who Allen Hopkins was till somebody came up and said do you know who that is and lil AL said i dont give a f im winning and he did win but i cant remember how much that is a true story i was there in the early 80s and that was on a valley barbox with a big cue ball Al Mason could really play back then best player in Dallas prolly

In the 90s Al was going to give Joe Salazar 23 to 7 playing 1hole. Either at
Clicks European crossroads Or Speeds on NW Hwy. Joe says he shot a
shot{ I dont know if it was a shot,or a move] and Al says "No my friend you
play to good. I cant give you that much weight"
Al did give up the world and outrun it!
