Are the brackets up anywhere? Bueller? Bueller?
LOL; that is exactly what I was thinking and I was also wondering if maybe that was Troy Frank in the #2 position...lol.
There were also some other players outside of the top 4 that I saw on the charts; some that come to mind are Chris Loar, Dee Adkins and Joe Dipietro. I am sure there were others, as well.
The super billiards open amatuer division is made up of strong players. I have played in this tournament six years, though not since 2004. I cashed one year and got $300 back. There is probably 100 players with an APA skill rating of 6 or 7. They stand no chance. About 60 players who are entered have a chance on winning. I thing it was 2004 that John Brumback came in second. He was no amatuer even back then. Jason Kirkwood owned this and several other amatuer tournaments for years. Players come from all over the world to play at the expo. It's a lot of fun and great action. My only question is why is the amatuer only paying $5,000. This tournament started out with 200 players and paid $5,000 for first. But pool is a business and Allen puts on a great event, deserves to make a living.

Manny Chau was also in this event.
About the only people who would classify Clatterbuck, Vidal, Shorty and Chau amateurs on the barboxes would be Clatterbuck, Vidal, Shorty and Chau. And their stakehorses. And the guys who got them in a calcutta if there was one. All the other true amateurs who were steamrolled by these guys as they plowed through the near 800 man field were probably wondering how is that this guy is allowed in the event.
In Dee's defense, he hasn't played professionally in years and he's in a wheel chair from his accident that occurred about 5 months or so ago. He just wanted to go compete and get out and about.
Ron Frank Jr plays here locally and him and Clatterbuck match up alot at his pool room.Last year it was Larry Smith knocking Ron out in the final 8 so Ron's almost thereCongraduts To Ron Frank!
I have read all the posts on this thread and will dare to speak on Matt's behalf as he is a "friend of a friend".Clatterbuck, Vidal and Shorty all in the top 4? They call this an amateur tournament?

What he said.I don't see what all the fuss is about.
If you can break and run out, you have a chance against ANYONE.
It is alternate break, so you will undoubtedly get your chances. It's not like you are going to be glued to your chair while they run out the set unless you miss a lot and your break sucks, in which case, you don't deserve to win in the first place.
If you are mad because your skills don't match up with those who have worked on their game more then you.
GO PRACTICE and stop whining already. No one is forcing you to play in the expo, and if you are looking for a handout tournament where a chump can win in a field of 800+ players, you need to wake up from that pipe dream or quit pool.
