Timi Scruggs tells me a guy came in the shop the other day. The cue had his buttplate on it he knows he made the buttplate .
. Nothing else was his. Sometimes a reciet on the makers letterhead is god to keep and most any person with any sense keeps the reciet. So start asking for reciets maybe you will have less of a chance to be hurt. The cue was sold on ebay.

I'M GUESSING THAT YOU ARE REFERRING TO MY AVATAR? IF THAT WAS MY WIFE, I WOULDN'T BE POSTING HERE. I CAN GUARANTEE THAT. I'LL SEND YOU A PM ABOUT THE SELLER THAT HAD THE CUE YOU MENTIONED IN THIS THREAD.

Just how many Identical Ginacues does Ernie turnout anyway? This eBay auction is the same cue that Cueaddicts has up. :(

Ginacue on eBay

And while I'm at it:

Aren't this just chopped up pics from Sherbines Gallery website? Sheeesh.

Cyrex, definitely a scam on this Ginacue....bidders beware !!! Plus there's another auction where the same low-life piece of $hit stole pics and descriptions of one of our Runde cues. I have reported them to eBay. Good catch.

Timi said the cue was made out of some kind of wood he would never use and the black collars were all different widths I didn't think to ask if they were everywhere. He just said what the f%ck is going on out there! Then told me the story about the ebay purchase. Because I got my sticks from him I never cared to ask who the seller was and I dought very seriously he thought to ask.

i think as mentioned earlier tis cue is suspect... the pics are chopped up from Proficient Billiards ... anyone has email the seller??

http://www.proficientbilliards.com/cues/Tascarella/hoppebutt/index.htm

he used photoshop and cropped off the proficientbilliards ident on the pictures..

Also mentions he wants a quick 2200 publicly  ... so he wants to deal outta the ebay framework ...

I am NOT bidding on this cue.

ya know.. after i read this thread and looked at his auction.. i do believe its fake also.. but i sat here thinking about it while i did my normal website surf..

anyways.. in his description he says he bought 2 identical cues which isnt really impossible.. what i find hard to believe is that when you put all the info together it just screams scam..

who in the world would ever buy two cues at once which would have a value of almost 5 grand.. and NOT get a reciept????? or any kind of proof of purchase... and then the fact with the pictures and how none of the pics are "personal photos" which all seem to be takin off the net or photochopped.. everytime i try and sell a cue i get my own pics.. its just not right using somebody elses especially when the price is that high..

all i can say is.. UNBELIEVEABLE... this sorta thing happens alot with motorcycles on ebay.. i belong to this forum for yamaha r1 sportbikes.. and you wont believe (well.. i am sure you would) how many scumbags there are out there that steal pics of the net of especially 1 of a kind bikes) and try and sell them.. worste part is.. its not just the ppl from a foreign country anymore trying to pull a fast one.. there are actually ppl right here that do the same thing.. make it seem like your getting a good price and once they got your money you get farked..

thats all i have to say now.. that guy has me all fired up..lol.

Recently there is ard 3-5 scams a weeks here exposed on Ebay.. Who knows how many are unexposed... This i think would have been unheard of a year back. So i think the con men are onto us, and as collectors we need to protect ourselves.

So if anyone see anything suspicious, please post in AZ and inform all of us... They will go away if they find that its not worth their effort, and their tricks wont work...

Anyway i emailed all the bidders of that Tascarella cue, and told them that the pics are chop suey from Scott's site. But i guess its still up to them, if the guy was really legit, 1500 for a hoppe tas is not too bad i guess.. but please go ahead, for me i wont take on such risks.

i want to REITERATE here that i am not trying to discourage buyers to that cue...i am not against that seller. It just pays to be a bit cautious thats all. If u get conned, not only u lose a couple of dollars (which wont hurt if u are Bill Gates?) but it encourages the others to pull such stunts (if the cue is a stunt job.)

If u are the seller of the tascarella and u are reading this, perhaps u wanna show urself and explain ? Even if u did have 2 Tascarellas, it is wrong to take and use other people pictures without permission. If u want some pro pics taken, i am sure Dick Abott, or Iconcue here can help.

I THINK THE TASCARELLA AUCTION IS A FRAUD AS WELL. I OWN THE CUE THAT IS ON SCOT'S SITE. AND I'M SURE IT'S NOT FOR SALE FOR LESS THAN 5000.00. BUT, I HAVE BOUGHT CUES WORTH WELL OVER 5000 WIHOUT A RECEIPT, AND THE WORK PETE HAS DONE FOR ME DOESN'T HAVE RECEIPTS EITHER.

I have sold with no reciet

If you have a relationship with certain cue makers a expert is hard to fake out. But a ebay cue is another thing. If you know the seller then all is good but lately high dollar cues are being copied and misrepresented like crazy. I personally have been asked to trade for a unmarked Scruggs cue then I have been told by Jerry Rauenzahn that he made the cue the person and this guy has a very large cue website asked him to make him a scruggs copy. So the guy shows it to Timi and Timi tells him you know everything is exactly the way he would make it and even though he couldn't rember makeing it he was pretty sure it could be one of his. Tim refused to logo the cue. He etches his trademark now and it is filled with a black epoxy. So if you see a newer Scruggs that has been refinished there is no way the trademark was stripped off during the refinish FYI

As long as you're paying big bucks for pics of a Tascarella, better jump on this Mottey before it's gone: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8256806046

The non-US scams are tough because our government hasn't seen fit to pressure our 'neighbors' into properly policing their ends of the internet;however, I disagree that the US scammers are 'free' once they have your money. They can be tracked down and punished, and there are plenty of ways to punish thieves.
