I guess all of us have experienced to get a scar in the shaft, some deeper than others. Sometimes it is really irritating and frustrating to feel the scar when playing.
Yesterday I lost my semifinal in a regional tournament 9 - 6, and at 8 - 6 I miscued badly on the 8 and since it wasn't the first bad roll/accident during that match I lost my temper and hit the cue hard in the table. Of course I got a deep scar in the shaft. Stupid actions are always costly!
Luckily I learnt how to treat those scars some years ago, and now I thought that maybe there are others here on AZB that dosn't know it, or have other ways of doing it, so I thought I could share my way of doing it.
First of all, I use sandpaper to rub up the surface on and nearby the damaged area of the shaft.
Then I put a drop of hot water on the scar, and when it's dried up, I put on more. Because the wood is "alive" the heat will make the wood heal itself.
If you don't have access to hot water you can use a drop of cold water and then use a small shotglass to rub over and over the scar and create the heat.
After doing this a couple of times, use sandpaper on the whole shaft and polish it, and it is as good as new!
