Scheduling a League Format?

Our Church league will be starting in a month.

Sure could use some info on formatting.

We will be having "4 players per team"

"14 weeks of play"

"8 tables" but we want 1 table free a week.

14 teams

Any experts on formats?

Thank you,

Robin

My husband is pulling his hair out trying to figure this out.
I on the other hand know someone here has the answer. Helpppppppppppppppp

7 tables, 2 teams play against each other Round Robin Twice.

A macth is defined as a the result of the score of each member of one team playing 1 game against each member of the other team.
1 point for making a ball and 2 points for wining a game.

Round Robin format is each team plays the other 13 teams one match at a time. 13 Weeks. you could have a 'Position Night' where the top two teams play, then the 2nd two teams play and so on for points.

Here is a link to a FREE Round Robin Scheduler.

Thank you,
2 teams will be playing at 1 home the other teams will be doing the same. There are 7 homes that have tables so far.

So every time they make a ball it is a point and 2 for the win. That will help.

It will be 6-9 pm should it just be doubles or is there time for everone to play a few games? There will be 4-6 players on a team to be determined by sign ups.

I think it would be tough to get in 16 games in your timeframe. That would be a standard 4x4 match and usually takes longer.

Amazing that you got that many non pool players together and committed for 13 weeks.

You play

Better to have 16 teams, 8 in each division.
Then each team plays the other 7 teams twice.

I assume it is 8 ball, so score it 10 points for a win, and the other is the number of balls made.
"Home team" breaks rounds 1 and 3, visitors round 2 and 4.

Use first 3 weeks scores for establishing averages to 2 decimal places.
Handicap per round is by subtracting lower team average from higher team average.

Have a playoff tournament at end of session with top 4 teams in each division participating.
League fees should be in the $5-8 range per week per player.

If you haven't seen it, go to http://www.league-central.com
and browse around. It reports and tracks leagues, reports leaders, etc..

My advice follows a VNEA format.

Thank you I will take a look

Having 4 to a team I was thinking 1 single match each and maybe 2 doubles?
With a 15 minute time frame, counting the balls on the table that are left.
The key is getting to know each other, at church so many times you go in and then out without ever meeting anyone. Pool is a great way to develop relationships....2 play the rest eat and talk......works for me...I just need to get the format hammered out.
Being that I only played in tournaments I have NO CLUE about leagues. I just think they are for fun!
And Fun is what I am looking for..............even if I will only be talking and eating

We only took an interest test.....we got 48 sign ups.......there is so many more that have heard about it. But we have to go slow, thankfully my husband is sharp and he is able to pull it together. But anything I can do to help I would like too.
Are there any kind of score sheets around?

You can also contact Jim Mazzula of the Christian Pool Players association - I am pretty sure he has run leagues out of his church before.

jim@christianpoolplayers.com

Scoresheets can be downloaded here

http://www.playbca.com/Downloads/ScoreSheets/tabid/147/Default.aspx

and here...

your preference - base it on your needs.

Good luck!

You could go to your local league owner BCA / APA and have them set you up your own division. They will jump at the chance.
