Some of the best cues made for the money. Their sneaky petes and break cues are quite nice for the money they're asking for. They'll even make you a custom J/B from their spliced cue stock. If you'd like a birdseye/cocobolo sneaky pete j/b cue, email David at Schmelke Cue, and he'll look after you.

i wanted a cue made to some specific measurements just to try out and had them build it for me.......came out pretty nice (sneakypete), very reasonable for the money and very easy to work with.

Here you go

I bought one in 1975 and still have it. Here's the site.

I have a Schmelke cue that I've been playing almost exclusively with for the past 3+ years. It's a plain jane, but I love it, especially the no wrap part. Try it, you'll like it.

I bought two cocobolo/maple sneaky petes from them.

Beautiful wood.

The second one I had them make specially for me. (Does that make it "custom'? Hmmmm... ) It's coco with birdseye maple, 19 oz., 5/16 X 18 joint, 12 mm shaft, longish pro taper. Plays jam up, and looks great. What a great hit too, likely due to the fact it's a full splice cue. The birdseye maple forearm cost an extra $20, bringing the total to $127 delivered. Can't beat it!

There was a thread on this a few weeks ago, which may be helpful. I'm not saying this in the snarky "why didn't you read up before posting" way, but just telling you in case you want to dig it up.

Add me to the list of guys who think that Schmelke makes a great cue for the cash. I have a coco sneaky pete. If I knew that you could order it with coco into curly or birdseye I would have done so. We have a home table, and this is my wife's main playing cue. I've played with it a lot, and really like it.

I also needed one more house cue, and took the advice of Eric Crisp/Sugartree cues and got a Schmelke one piece house cue. I got one with a bocote butt for $34 or so.

I'm not always hung up on the whole "made in the usa thing," (we have two import cars) but do like the fact that these production cues are made in Wisconsin and not China.

Thanks Dave and everyone for the info. I guess I missed the other post. But appreciate the info....I just couldn't believe I didn't know about Schmelke cues before...

Here's a pic of the two Schmelke's I own. The one with the leather wrap I bought in 1974/5.

Thanks everyone for the positive input...I ordered the Cocobolo Sneaky Pete , 19 oz Jump Break cue. Can't wait now till it comes...Appreciate all the info provided by everyone...

I just spoke with Dave there about maybe getting a "customized" (I know it's not a custom) one from them. I figured they only had the woods shown on the website, but they have much more. Thinking of getting an ebony one, or maybe going a little crazy and getting ebony into tulipwood forearm. Or tulipwood into ebony forearm. Which do you guys think would play better, balance-wise? Which would look sharper? I love those two woods together.

Anyway, the whole thing would still come out under $150, for a full splice cue with exotic hardwoods, grade-A shaft turned down to 12.75. I may have to go for it.
