Schmelke Shaft - design input needed :)

I am in process of ordering&experimenting with another custom Schmelke cue so need your opinion for the shaft.

I was going to order 12.5mm laminated shaft with extended pro-tapper. (3-8/10)

Sounds like you are making good (quality) choices. You are the only one that has to be satisfied with the shaft. Should be a great shaft. There is nothing negative about it. Enjoy.

Micarta is so superior to ivory for actually playing pool that you should just run with it.

FYI :
Last I checked, they are "flat" laminated like plywood.
Be sure that is what you want.

Because it costs money.

Ivory, they can upcharge the pants off of you.

I like both of your choices but lean toward the Ivory and Moori myself.

How does that work ? Do you purchase the shaft from one vendor and the tip and ferrule from another?

Will Schmelke provide the finished product?

Do they not have the tips etc...?

I had an old scruggs with them 2nd option and it hit great - I have a shaft now with the micarta and a ultra that hits ok but no where close to the ivory.

The Schmelke laminated shaft features 16ply hard maple laminates, cold pressed, to maintain color and quality.

The laminates create an artificial grain to help maintain straightness and create a hard hit, with less flex than a standard maple shaft.

We suggest sealing your shaft on arrival, and letting the shaft season to your environment and turning your shafts in multiple passes.

We guarantee your shaft wood to be straight on arrival, we don't accept returns on turned wood or wood held after 7 days.

I got 10 ply tires on my truck :idea2:
I think this one was from 35 pieces of laminated wood.
This not a Schmelke shaft.
