I won 3 multi-table tournaments on PokerStars last week all while using Charmin to wipe. lol, just kidding. Congrats to John. That was a tough field and I heard he shot lights out.

Didn't earl loose with an OB-1???? It's not the shaft but the person using it???:eek: Great play last week for john and we has a nice chat at the Marietta billiard club to.Plug for the Marietta billiard club:D .
 
Well, i can't knock it since i haven't played with one. But doesn't Allison Fisher use a Cuetec (even tho modified by Varney)?

Ob-1 Shaft

Schmidt is a great player even without an OB-1. I use an OB-1 and love it. My crystal ball says that within 5 years more people will be playing with an OB-1 shaft that a Predator shaft.
 
John won the USopen last year with a normal shaft.

I dont like gimmick shafts really. He put an OB-1 on his Hunter? That's a damn shame right there.

Have you played with an OB-1?

The work, effort and technology put into the OB-1 shaft is way more involved/evolved than the work put into most cue butts.

Yes, I have played with an ob-1. I will admit that i think it hits the best out of the rest of the low deflection shafts out there (pred, tiger, universal, etc, etc,) however that is not saying much, felt like I was shooting with a twinkie, very, very soft hit. Not for me.

I prefer the hit from the shaft that was made for my cue. Especially on a higer end custom cue, I just cannot see replacing the shaft with a production shaft regardless of the technology that went into it. It's mass produced, how do they know what I like in a hit and what will go well my butt or my joint/pin?

I felt I lost feel when I tried the Ob1. I just dont get it.

All those low deflection shafts are kinda gimmicky to me.

I understand what you are saying, the low deflection shafts are not for everyone. ANY mass produced product can not meet everyones needs.

Royce is a friend and a well respected and accomplished cue maker. I was just trying to make the point that he is a player who is offering what he believes to be a superior product. He is not just in it for the $$$'s.

Well that's obvious. A lot of people I know swear by the OB-1. It's just not for me, same with the preds and tigers. Not for me. I dont like the hit or feel.

John plays with a new cue now,Ob-1 gave the butt section to him and that is what he is using.

thanks everybody for the support including ob1.i got lucky a couple matches but overall played solid and better than at the open.i loved the way the shaft hit especially the long draw strokes.talk to you guys later or see you at the qlympics. john schmidt
